Rural Integrated Prefabricated Housing

Admin September 18, 2026

Rural integrated prefabricated housing is a new housing construction model where components are prefabricated in factories and quickly assembled on-site.

I. Construction Principles and Process
The core of rural integrated prefabricated housing lies in standardized factory production and rapid on-site assembly. Components such as walls, roofs, beams, columns, and floor slabs required for the house are all prefabricated in the factory with precise designs and strict specifications. For example, in rural areas of South Korea, prefabricated parts are used for assembly, and the main structure can be completed in just 14 days. Foundation piles are fixed with base plates, beams are connected using mortise-and-tenon joints, stairs are hoisted like building blocks, and gaps are finally grouted. In Zhejiang Province, fully assembled rural houses have core components such as walls and floor slabs prefabricated in the factory and then transported to the site for assembly. The main structure of the first model house in Yuyao City took only 7 days. In Hebei Province, large components such as columns, beams, and wall panels for assembled rural houses are also prefabricated in the factory and then transported to the homestead for assembly, saving time and labor during construction.

II. Structural Types and Characteristics

  1. Light Steel Structure: Common in fully assembled rural houses in Zhejiang Province, it features light weight, fast construction, and good seismic performance, suitable for multi-story buildings.
  2. Concrete Shear Wall Structure: Also promoted in Zhejiang Province, it has high structural strength and is suitable for scenarios with high durability requirements.
  3. Reinforced Concrete Structure: The "prefabricated houses" emerging in rural areas of Henan adopt this structure. They resemble containers in appearance but are fundamentally different, possessing advantages such as sturdiness, durability, high structural strength, and good stability. The price per square meter is only around 300 yuan, and the quality guarantee period is as long as 70 years.

III. Advantages and Promotion Status

  1. High Construction Efficiency: Prefabricated components in factories can significantly shorten on-site construction time, such as 14 days in South Korea, 7 days in Zhejiang, and rapid popularization in pilot projects in Hebei.
  2. Controllable Quality: Standardized factory production reduces human errors, resulting in more stable component quality.
  3. Lower Cost: The prefabricated houses in Henan cost only around 300 yuan per square meter, and farmers in Hebei who choose to build assembled rural houses can also receive subsidies.
  4. High Comfort: Assembled rural houses in Hebei are warm in winter and cool in summer, providing a better living experience than traditional rural houses.
  5. Policy Support: Hebei launched pilot projects in 2022, and by the end of 2025, 20,000 farmer households had chosen to build such houses, indicating strong promotion efforts.

IV. Typical Cases

  • Rural areas of South Korea: The main structure was completed in 14 days, using innovative technologies such as mortise-and-tenon joints and base plate fixation.
  • Yuyao, Zhejiang: The main structure of the first "fully assembled" rural house model was completed in 7 days, incorporating light steel structures and concrete shear wall structures.
  • Rural areas of Henan: Reinforced concrete prefabricated houses are inexpensive and have a long quality guarantee period.
  • Rural areas of Hebei: Assembled rural houses save time and labor during construction, are warm in winter and cool in summer, and pilot projects have been rapidly popularized.
