Qingdao Container House Standards

Admin September 15, 2026

Currently, there are no unified and explicit local standards for container houses in Qingdao. Most of them follow enterprise standards and industry general norms, with certain requirements in terms of size, materials, structure, and performance.

Size Specifications

  • Common Standard Sizes: Some container houses adhere to the standard sizes of maritime containers. The external dimensions are, for example, 6058mm (length) × 2438mm (width) × 2591mm (height), and the internal dimensions are approximately 5925mm (length) × 2340mm (width) × 2385mm (height). There are also standard widths of 2.4 meters, heights of 2.6 meters, and lengths of 6 meters and 12 meters. However, many enterprises can customize container houses with special sizes according to customer needs.

Material Requirements

  • Main Structural Materials: Low-alloy high-strength structural steels, such as Q195 steel, are commonly used to ensure the sturdiness and durability of the houses, providing good earthquake resistance and deformation resistance.
  • Enclosure Materials: Walls often use color-steel composite panels and integrated large-corrugated fire-resistant rock wool panels. Color-steel composite panels have good strength and thermal insulation properties; fire-resistant rock wool panels can effectively prevent fires and ensure the safety of the houses.

Structural Characteristics

  • Frame Structure: The house skeleton is composed of steel structures. Some adopt steel frame designs, using special cold-formed galvanized steel members to ensure the stability of the overall structure.
  • Connection Methods: There are various connection methods for the members. Some use welding to make the house more integral, while others use bolt connections for easy disassembly and transportation.

Performance Requirements

  • Sealing Performance: Strict manufacturing processes give container houses good water tightness, preventing water leakage in rainy weather and other conditions.
  • Thermal Insulation Performance: Wall panels use double-sided sandwich panels, etc., which can provide good thermal insulation, moisture resistance, and heat insulation effects, offering a comfortable indoor environment for occupants.
  • Safety Performance: The overall structural safety performance is high, with an earthquake resistance of up to magnitude 8 and a wind resistance of up to level 12. The service life is generally more than 20 years.
