Prefabricated Siheyuan House
Prefabricated Siheyuan houses are the result of combining traditional architectural forms with modern industrial production. They achieve efficient construction through the prefabrication of standardized components and on-site assembly, while also taking into account cultural heritage and functional optimization.

Construction Mode and Process
The prefabricated Siheyuan adopts a 'construction and subcontracting' mode, dividing the traditional Siheyuan construction into four stages:
- Scheme Deepening and Drawing Separation: Based on the design drawings, complex wooden structures are disassembled into independent component units, clarifying the mortise-tenon connection methods and dimensional parameters to ensure the feasibility of standardized component production.
- Factory Prefabrication: Processes such as component cutting, mortising, carving, and polishing are completed in the workshop. Traditional woods (such as Korean pine and cedar) need to have their moisture content controlled below 12% to prevent deformation; aluminum-substituted wood materials are processed by CNC machine tools, and their surfaces are coated to form wood-grain textures, with significantly better weather resistance and fire resistance than solid wood.
- Pre-assembly and Quality Inspection: Before leaving the factory, components undergo 1:1 pre-assembly, with a focus on checking the fit of mortise-tenon joints (tolerance needs to be controlled within ±0.5mm) and surface flatness (error ≤1mm) to ensure on-site assembly accuracy.
- On-site Assembly: Components are assembled in the order of 'foundation-columns-beams-rafters-eaves', reinforced with high-strength bolts or metal connectors, with elastic sealant filled at the joints for waterproofing, and finally overall debugging and decoration are carried out.
Material Selection and Advantages
- Traditional Wood: Suitable for dry areas, retaining natural wood grain and texture, but requiring regular anti-corrosion and insect-proof treatment.
- Aluminum-substituted Wood Material: Surface wood-grain aluminum alloy profiles, corrosion-resistant and deformation-resistant, with maintenance costs reduced by more than 60%, especially suitable for humid or rainy areas. After adopting aluminum-substituted wood components in the Beijing Sanlihe project, the building's lifespan was extended to over 50 years, and it met the requirements for 8-degree earthquake resistance.
- Economy: Mass production can dilute mold costs, with lower unit prices as the scale increases. For example, the component cost of projects over 2000㎡ is 15%-20% lower than that of traditional construction.
Quality Control and Case
Factory production improves component qualification rates to over 99.5% through environmental control (temperature 20±2℃, humidity 50%±5%) and automated equipment. The renovation project of Building 28 in Beijing Sanlihe adopted prefabricated technology, completing the main structure in 46 days, 60% shorter than the traditional construction period, and adding elevators and barrier-free facilities, significantly improving living comfort. However, it should be noted that if the functional layout is unreasonable (such as an excessively high proportion of bedrooms leading to insufficient public space), it may still affect the user experience, and it is necessary to balance traditional forms and modern needs at the design stage.
