Thermal Insulation Measures for Prefabricated Houses
Prefabricated houses have a variety of effective thermal insulation measures that can effectively reduce heat exchange and maintain stable indoor temperatures.

Adding Thermal Insulation Materials
Adding thermal insulation materials to walls and roofs is a core measure. Commonly used materials include polyurethane, extruded polystyrene boards, and polystyrene boards, which reduce indoor-outdoor heat exchange by blocking heat conduction. For example, typical insulated prefabricated concrete houses adopt a "sandwich" wall structure: the inner and outer layers are cement-based panels, with polystyrene foam boards or rock wool filled in the middle to form an efficient insulation layer. The quality, thickness, and placement of the materials must be strictly controlled to optimize the effects of preventing heat loss in winter and overheating in summer.Optimizing Window and Door Design
Windows and doors are key areas for heat loss. Using double-glazed windows or adding sunshade films can reduce direct sunlight and ultraviolet radiation; choosing high-efficiency insulated windows and curtains can further reduce heat transfer. Design should consider both ventilation and lighting needs, ensuring airtightness during installation and filling gaps between windows/doors and walls to prevent cold air infiltration. Large prefabricated houses can also use double or multi-layer glass windows to enhance insulation.Roof Insulation
Installing insulation boards (such as roof insulation boards) beneath the roof can reduce cold air infiltration from above. Design should consider both waterproofing and ventilation, with proper drainage paths to prevent water accumulation from damaging the insulation layer. For example, roof insulation boards must work in conjunction with the waterproofing layer to ensure long-term stability.Other Thermal Insulation Methods
- Air Circulation Insulation Method: Create an elevated insulation layer about 30 cm above the roof, using flowing air to isolate heat transfer, suitable for cooling in summer.
- Water Insulation Method: Set up shallow puddles about 15 cm deep on the roof, using water evaporation to absorb heat and lower indoor temperatures, but attention must be paid to waterproofing and load-bearing issues.
- Rooftop Water Storage: Build "small walls" around the top floor to store water; the deeper the water layer, the better the insulation effect, but the load-bearing capacity of the roof must be evaluated and waterproofing measures strengthened.
- Laying Prefabricated Concrete or Ceramic Tiles: Laying these materials on the roof can reflect some heat and reduce heat conduction.
- Ceramsite Concrete Insulation Method: Laying ceramsite concrete on the top floor can significantly lower indoor temperatures while providing moisture and waterproofing functions, and also saving electricity consumption.
These measures can be combined based on the specific needs and environmental conditions of the prefabricated house to achieve the best thermal insulation effect.
