Portable Toilet

Admin September 20, 2026

A portable toilet is a facility that can be moved as a whole and provides toilet services to the public. It is suitable for various locations and comes in multiple types and features.

Suitable Locations

Portable toilets are suitable for stations, docks, tourist attractions, villa areas, newly built residential communities, large construction sites, squares, densely populated public places, and bustling commercial streets. These locations often face issues such as insufficient numbers of fixed public toilets or unreasonable layouts. Portable toilets can be flexibly deployed to meet people's temporary and periodic toilet needs. For example, at large construction sites with a high number of workers and significant mobility, portable toilets can be conveniently placed within the site to provide convenience for workers. At tourist attractions with heavy tourist traffic, portable toilets can be quickly deployed in areas where tourists gather to alleviate toilet pressure.

Composition and Structure

Generally, they consist of a fecal sewage storage tank (or fecal sewage treatment device), floor, sanitary ware, walls, washing facilities, water tank, roof, and mobile device. These components work together to ensure the normal operation of the portable toilet. The fecal sewage storage tank is used to collect and store fecal sewage, the sanitary ware provides the basic toilet function, and the mobile device enables the toilet to be easily moved and transported.

Type Classification

  • By structural form: They can be divided into single-structure portable toilets and composite-structure portable toilets. Single-structure portable toilets are relatively simple and suitable for small-scale use; composite-structure portable toilets are more complex and have more complete functions, suitable for large venues or occasions with high toilet requirements.
  • By mobility method: They can be divided into lifting and handling portable toilets, and powered and towed portable toilets. Lifting and handling portable toilets require external equipment for movement; powered and towed portable toilets have their own power or can be towed for movement, making them more flexible and convenient.
  • By sewage treatment method: They are divided into water-flush and non-water-flush suction portable toilets, circulating water-flush portable toilets, and dry-packing portable toilets. Different types of sewage treatment methods are suitable for different environments and needs. For example, water-flush portable toilets are suitable for locations with a water source, while dry-packing portable toilets are suitable for water-scarce areas or areas with high environmental protection requirements.

Design Principles

The design of portable toilets should adhere to the principles of mobility and convenience, economic durability; environmental protection and ecological friendliness, beneficial to the environment; improving efficiency, and promoting humanity. The overall structure should consider being lightweight, using lightweight and durable materials as much as possible, and being sturdy. The design should also consider controlling the height and width of the toilet, and the mobile device should be fully considered for completeness and rationality.
