Container Iron House and Steel House

Admin September 15, 2026

Container iron houses are based on fixed container size modules, while light steel houses are not. There are differences between the two in terms of structure, performance, and application scenarios.

In terms of structure: Container iron houses take standard containers as the basic units and are combined and expanded through welding, bolt connections, etc., with relatively regular and uniform structures. For example, common 20-foot and 40-foot containers have fixed sizes, and when being renovated, internal space adjustments and function additions are mostly carried out based on these established sizes. Light steel houses use light steel structures as the skeletons and build architectural frameworks of various shapes and layouts through components such as cold-formed thin-walled steel sections, with more flexible and diverse structural forms. They can be designed into various unique architectural shapes according to different needs.

In terms of performance: Due to the use of the container's own structure, container iron houses have high strength and stability, can withstand relatively large loads and certain external impacts, and have certain advantages in wind resistance and earthquake resistance. For example, some specially reinforced container houses can withstand strong typhoons and earthquakes. Through reasonable structural design and connection methods, light steel houses also have good earthquake resistance. At the same time, their walls mostly use lightweight materials, with good thermal insulation performance, which can effectively reduce energy consumption and improve indoor comfort.

In terms of application scenarios: Container iron houses are often used in the field of temporary buildings, such as construction site dormitories and wild operation camps. They have strong mobility, are easy to be quickly set up and dismantled, and can meet the needs of short-term use. Light steel houses have a wider range of applications. They can be used not only as temporary buildings but also as permanent buildings, such as residences, commercial buildings, and public facilities. They are especially more advantageous in projects with high requirements for architectural shapes and spatial layouts.
