China Portable Toilet

Admin October 12, 2026

China's portable toilets (mobile toilets) are facilities that can be moved as a whole and provide toilet services to the public. They are suitable for a variety of locations and come in multiple types with distinct features.

Suitable Locations

Mobile toilets have a wide range of suitable locations, including transportation hubs such as train stations and docks, facilitating travelers' use; tourist attractions to meet tourists' toilet needs and enhance their travel experience; villa areas and newly built residential communities to provide convenience for residents; large construction sites to support the daily lives of construction workers; and squares, densely populated public areas, and bustling commercial streets with high foot traffic, effectively solving the public's toilet problems.

Evolution of Materials and Structures

Initially, mobile toilets were mostly made of materials like wood, with simple structures and functions, and were prone to absorbing odors. With technological development, materials such as fiberglass-reinforced plastic and polyethylene have gradually been used, significantly improving performance. In terms of structural forms, there are single-unit structure mobile toilets and composite-structure mobile toilets. Based on mobility methods, there are lifting and handling types, powered and towed types. According to sewage treatment methods, they can be classified as water-flush and non-water-flush suction types, circulating water-flush types, and dry-packing types.

Emerging Styles and Features

Nowadays, there are new Chinese-style mobile toilets. Some are designed with six squatting positions in total (three for men's toilets, with a public hand-washing area in the middle). The exterior uses metal carved panels, and the structure is welded with a steel frame, suitable for outdoor use for more than 15 years, with complete water and electricity supplies. Others adopt a galvanized steel frame structure with a corridor in front. The public hand-washing area meets hand-washing needs, and the metal carved panels provide thermal insulation and are elaborately decorated inside. In addition, some Chinese-style mobile toilets incorporate intelligent elements, integrating elements such as Suzhou garden carved windows and Hui-style architecture's white walls and black tiles. They are equipped with sound-controlled and human-body-sensing lights, with red and green lights at the entrance of each cubicle. The floor is equipped with intelligent sensing cleaning robots that use laser sensing technology to monitor equipment status in real-time.

Advantages and Design Principles

Mobile toilets have significant advantages such as being movable, combinable, and easy to transport. Their design follows the principles of easy mobility, economic durability; environmental protection and ecological friendliness; and improving efficiency and promoting humanitarianism. While meeting the public's toilet needs, they also focus on environmental protection and human-centered design.
