Weight of 3×6 Container House

Admin September 17, 2026

The weight of a 3×6 container house varies depending on the material, design, and configuration, typically ranging from 200kg to over 3 tons. The specific situations can be categorized as follows:

1. Ordinary Carbon Steel Container Houses
These houses use carbon steel as the main frame, and their weight is significantly influenced by the thickness of the steel and the structure. The frame without wall panels and flooring usually weighs between 1.2 and 1.8 tons. If the interior and exterior wall panels (such as color-coated steel sheets) and flooring (such as wooden or cement fiber boards) are installed, the overall weight increases to between 1.8 and 2.5 tons. If the steel thickness is increased or special anti-corrosion treatments (such as hot-dip galvanizing) are applied, the weight may further increase by about 20%, reaching between 2.16 and 3 tons.

2. Lightweight Design Container Houses
To meet the needs of mobility or special scenarios, some houses use lightweight materials. For example, models with aluminum-magnesium alloy frames paired with honeycomb panel walls and composite floors achieve weight reduction by lowering material density, with the overall weight controlled within 2 tons. These houses are typically suitable for scenarios sensitive to weight, such as temporary offices and emergency rescue operations.

3. Decorated Container Houses
If the interior of the house is simply decorated (such as installing lighting fixtures, electrical circuits, partitions, or basic furniture), the weight increases due to the additional materials. The decoration typically adds between 0.3 and 0.5 tons to the total weight, meaning an ordinary carbon steel house with decoration may weigh between 2.1 and 3 tons, while a lightweight house may approach between 2.3 and 2.5 tons.

4. Special Specification Container Houses
There are a few non-standard designed container houses with significant weight differences. For example, a container house with standard dimensions of 6000mm×3010mm×2590mm, if using high-strength lightweight materials (such as aviation aluminum alloy), can have a self-weight as low as 200kg, with a total weight (including the basic structure) of only 1350kg. However, such houses are mostly used in special transportation or experimental scenarios and have low market penetration.

Summary: The weight range of 3×6 container houses is quite broad, and the choice should be based on a comprehensive consideration of usage, transportation conditions, and budget. Ordinary carbon steel houses are suitable for long-term fixed use; lightweight houses are convenient for mobility; decorated houses require additional load-bearing space; and special specification houses require confirmation of the safety of materials and structure.
