Types of Mobile Public Toilets

Admin September 28, 2026

Mobile public toilets come in a variety of types, which can be classified into the following categories based on different criteria:

Based on structural form, they can be divided into single-structure mobile toilets and composite-structure mobile toilets. Single-structure toilets typically refer to individual toilet units that are independently formed, with a simple structure and easy mobility. Composite-structure toilets are composed of multiple functional modules, such as management rooms and storage rooms, and are suitable for scenarios with more complex functional requirements.

Based on materials, common types include:

  • Plastic toilets: Made primarily of lightweight plastic, they are cost-effective and lightweight, suitable for temporary sites like construction sites, but have relatively weak durability.
  • Color-steel toilets: Built with color-coated steel sheets, they offer thermal and sound insulation properties, and have a neat and aesthetically pleasing appearance, commonly found in public areas such as parks and streets.
  • Fiberglass-reinforced plastic toilets: Manufactured through integral molding processes, they are structurally robust and highly impact-resistant, suitable for scenarios requiring rapid deployment and high durability, such as disaster relief and emergency response.
  • Tent-style toilets: Composed of tent fabric and supports, they are easy to assemble and disassemble, similar to tent setup, and are suitable for temporary events like music festivals and sports competitions.

Based on mobility methods, they can be classified as:

  • Hoisting-type: Require lifting equipment like cranes for transportation, and are usually fixed at specific locations, suitable for long-term use scenarios such as construction sites.
  • Trailer-type: Equipped with wheels at the bottom, they can be towed by vehicles for movement, offering high flexibility, and are suitable for scenarios requiring frequent relocation, such as music festivals and large exhibitions.

Based on sewage treatment methods, they include:

  • Waterless packing-type: Seal excreta with biodegradable materials, requiring no water source or sewage pipes, suitable for water-scarce areas like deserts and grasslands, or camping activities.
  • Traditional water-flushing type: Rely on water sources and sewage pipes, using water flow for cleaning, commonly found in areas with well-established infrastructure, such as scenic spots and city streets.
  • Foam-sealing type: Use foaming agents to cover the surface of excreta to block odors, saving water and being environmentally friendly, suitable for places with water scarcity but requiring hygiene maintenance.
  • Microbial degradation type: Decompose excreta into organic fertilizers through microorganisms, achieving harmless treatment, commonly found in eco-parks and farms with high environmental protection requirements.

Based on usage scenarios, they can be divided into scenic spot toilets, construction site toilets, temporary event toilets, etc. Their designs are optimized for specific functions, such as scenic spot toilets focusing on blending with the environment, construction site toilets emphasizing durability, and temporary event toilets pursuing rapid setup and dismantling efficiency.
