Taiyuan Mobile Toilet Plan

Admin September 22, 2026

The Taiyuan Mobile Toilet Plan primarily focuses on promoting modular mobile public toilets, aiming to address the pain points of traditional public toilets through innovative design and enhance urban public service levels.

Key Promotion Areas and Objectives

The sanitation department of Taiyuan City has concentrated the layout of modular mobile public toilets in three types of areas: old residential communities, areas around commercial districts, and scenic spots. Old residential communities face challenges in traditional public toilet construction due to limited space and aging infrastructure; mobile toilets can be flexibly deployed to alleviate residents' toilet difficulties. Areas around commercial districts have high pedestrian traffic and temporary needs, and the modular design can quickly respond to peak usage pressures. Scenic spots need to balance visitor experience and ecological protection, and the eco-friendly features of mobile toilets can reduce interference with the natural environment. Over the next three years, Taiyuan plans to add 200 modular mobile public toilets, forming a city-wide convenient network.

Addressing Core Issues of Traditional Public Toilets

Traditional public toilets have two major pain points: long construction periods and difficulty in relocation. Fixed public toilets require excavation of foundations and laying of pipelines, with construction periods typically exceeding one month, and site selection is restricted by terrain. In contrast, modular mobile public toilets adopt a factory-prefabricated, on-site assembly model, enabling deployment within 7 days and significantly shortening construction time. Their structure consists of independent modules that support overall lifting or split transportation, allowing for position adjustments according to urban planning and adaptability to temporary events or long-term use needs.

Eco-Friendly and Energy-Efficient Technological Innovations

Material innovation is key to the Taiyuan Mobile Toilet Plan. New public toilets use lightweight high-strength materials, such as glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP), which reduce transportation energy consumption and enhance corrosion resistance. The walls are filled with insulation layers to minimize the use of air conditioning or heating, achieving energy-saving goals. Additionally, some public toilets are equipped with solar panels to power lighting and ventilation systems, further reducing carbon emissions. In wastewater treatment, microbial degradation technology is introduced to convert excrement into harmless fertilizer, avoiding the odors and leakage issues of traditional septic tanks.

Livelihood Benefits and Social Value

This plan promotes urban civilization upgrading through the "toilet revolution." The popularization of modular public toilets not only solves the problem of "difficulty in finding toilets" but also enhances user experience through barrier-free design (such as ramps and handrails) and intelligent management (such as real-time monitoring of usage frequency and automatic cleaning). Their flexible deployment characteristics are particularly suitable for emergency scenarios, such as temporary shelters after natural disasters or large-scale event sites, demonstrating the resilience of urban public services.
