Principles of Mobile Toilets in Scenic Spots

Admin October 08, 2026

The principles of mobile toilets in scenic spots are mainly based on technologies such as mechanical packaging, vacuum suction, foam sealing, and microbial degradation. Appropriate solutions are selected in combination with different infrastructure conditions to achieve efficient treatment and environmentally friendly discharge of excreta.

1. Mechanical Packaging Principle
This technology simulates the automatic packaging process through mechanical devices. After a user uses the toilet, a biodegradable plastic bag completely seals and wraps the excreta and pulls it downward. Each bag can hold approximately 50 uses. When the bag is nearly full, the system triggers an alarm, and staff only need to replace it with a new bag. This method does not require water flushing, and the sealed design effectively isolates odors. It is suitable for scenic spots with scarce water sources or no pipeline network coverage, but biodegradable plastic bags need to be replenished regularly.

2. Vacuum Suction System Principle
It utilizes the pressure difference to create a negative pressure environment, quickly sucking the excreta into the sewage storage tank. When the train is running, the airflow can assist in breaking up solid waste; when parked, it is directly pumped to the treatment station through pipelines. This system is fully enclosed with no risk of leakage, and the equipment is small in size and has high treatment efficiency. However, it requires regular maintenance of the vacuum pump and pipelines to avoid blockages or abnormal air pressure, making it suitable for scenic spots with strict environmental protection requirements.

3. Foam Sealing Technology Principle
A large amount of fine foam is generated by a foaming device to cover the surface of the toilet bowl, forming a physical barrier. The foam not only inhibits the diffusion of odors but also lubricates the pipelines, allowing the excreta to slide smoothly into the treatment tank. The system only requires electricity to drive the foam circulation, without the need for water flushing or chemical agents. It has low maintenance costs and significant water-saving effects, making it especially suitable for arid regions or temporary event scenarios.

4. Microbial Degradation Technology Principle
It adopts a split design to separate and treat urine and feces. The urine is filtered and then directly discharged or recycled; the feces are decomposed by biological strains into harmless carbon dioxide and water vapor. This technology does not require an external pipeline network, and the degradation process is pollution-free. However, strains need to be added regularly, and the temperature and humidity need to be controlled to ensure the activity of microorganisms. It is suitable for ecologically sensitive scenic spots.

Basis for Selecting Appropriate Solutions
The solutions for mobile toilets in scenic spots need to be customized according to infrastructure conditions:

  • Water-flushing system: It requires connection to an external water supply network and a sewage pipeline network, suitable for scenic spots near cities or with complete infrastructure;
  • Packaging or microbial degradation system: Relying on sealed containers or biological decomposition, without the need for a water network, they are the first choice for remote scenic spots such as mountainous and desert areas.
