Renovation Needs for Rural Mobile Toilets

Admin October 05, 2026

The renovation of rural mobile toilets requires comprehensive consideration from multiple aspects such as materials, structure, functionality, sanitation treatment, and building standards. Specific considerations are as follows:

I. Material Selection and Construction Details

  1. Material Quantity Calculation: Before renovation, accurately calculate the quantity of materials based on the toilet's dimensions to avoid waste due to over-purchasing or delays caused by insufficient materials. For example, main materials like floor tiles and ceramic tiles should have a 5%-10% allowance for losses.
  2. Floor Treatment: If there are old sewer pipes in the original floor, thoroughly replace them with new pipes when removing floor tiles to prevent leakage caused by pipe rupture. If the toilet floor is higher than the living room, use a threshold stone to resolve the height difference.
  3. Tile Jointing Technique: Avoid using edge trim for external corners of tiles; instead, request workers to grind 45-degree angles for jointing to enhance aesthetics. When struggling to choose floor tile colors, try interlacing two colors and rotating them by 45 degrees to enhance visual effects.
  4. Aluminum Ceiling Panels and Joists: There is no need to pursue high-priced aluminum ceiling panels; cheaper models already outperform PVC in terms of effect. However, focus on inspecting the quality of joists to prevent ceiling collapse due to joist deformation.

II. Structural Design and Functional Optimization

  1. Main Frame: Adopt a galvanized steel plate frame with electrostatic spraying on the surface to form a corrosion-resistant, rain-proof, and moisture-proof protective layer. The internal volume is recommended to be no less than 2.783 cubic meters to ensure sufficient usage space.
  2. Ventilation and Deodorization: Reduce odors through natural ventilation (e.g., a 3050cm chimney) and combustion burner assistance (fuel consumption of 50kg/h). In cold northern regions, customize a 10cm thick insulation layer. In densely populated areas, optimize combustion burner fuel consumption to balance energy consumption and deodorization effects.
  3. Customized Functions: Support adjustments to the noise reduction system, with material options including color steel plates or stainless steel. Parameters such as the size of the input port and chimney height can be adjusted as needed. Custom designs based on drawings are also supported to meet personalized appearance requirements.

III. Selection of Sanitation Treatment Systems

  1. Septic Tank Design: The three-chamber treatment method is recommended, with the first chamber for 60 days of fermentation, the second chamber for 30 days of sedimentation, and the third chamber for direct fertilization. For construction site toilets used by an average of 100 people per day, each chamber should have a volume of no less than 2 cubic meters.
  2. Fecal Waste Treatment: Add EM bacteria agents to accelerate decomposition and spray lime to adjust the pH value to above 11 for sterilization. In cold northern regions, wrap buried pipes with a 3cm thick polyurethane insulation layer to prevent freezing. In arid regions, waterless composting toilets can be adopted, combined with wood chip coverage to achieve zero emissions.

IV. Building Standards and Safety Regulations

  1. Spatial Dimensions: The distance between the squat toilet and the rear wall should be no less than 40cm, and the net height of the toilet room should be no less than 2 meters. The water supply and drainage system should be equipped with U-shaped traps to prevent odors, and the slope of PVC pipes should be maintained at over 2%.
  2. Electrical Safety: Light sockets should be equipped with waterproof boxes, and the installation of solar lighting systems is recommended to reduce costs. During installation, choose a flat surface and ensure that the vertical deviation of the chimney does not exceed 5%.
  3. Daily Maintenance: Regularly clean the input port and combustion burner ash (recommended once a month) and check the integrity of the sound insulation cotton. Avoid disposing of hard objects and maintain customized components (such as stainless steel materials) according to the supplier's instructions.
