Portable Toilet

Admin September 22, 2026

A portable toilet is a facility that can be moved as a whole and provides toilet services to the public. It is suitable for various locations and comes in multiple types with distinct features.

Suitable Locations

Portable toilets are suitable for stations, docks, tourist attractions, villa areas, newly built residential communities, large construction sites, squares, densely populated public places, and bustling commercial streets. These locations often have temporary or periodic demands for toilets, or it is relatively difficult to build fixed public toilets. Portable toilets can effectively compensate for the insufficient quantity and unreasonable layout of public toilets. For example, in 2023, the Lanzhou Yellow River Scenic Area successively installed and put into use portable toilets.

Composition Structure

Generally, they consist of a fecal sewage storage tank (or fecal sewage treatment device), flooring, sanitary ware, walls, washing equipment, water tanks, roofs, and mobile devices. The specific composition may vary for different types and uses of portable toilets, but overall, they are designed around two core requirements: meeting toilet needs and facilitating mobility.

Development History and Materials

Initially, portable toilets were made of materials such as wood, with simple structures and functions, and were prone to absorbing odors. Later, they gradually evolved to use materials like fiberglass-reinforced plastic and polyethylene, which offer better durability, water resistance, and corrosion resistance, enhancing the user experience and lifespan of portable toilets.

Classification Methods

They can be classified by structural form into single-structure portable toilets and composite-structure portable toilets; by mobility into hoisting and handling portable toilets, powered and towed portable toilets; and by sewage treatment method into water-flush and waterless suction portable toilets, circulating water-flush portable toilets, and dry-packing portable toilets.

Features and Advantages

They can be conveniently transported to any location where toilets need to be set up and can be used repeatedly. They have the advantages of mobility, modularity, and ease of transportation. Their design follows the principles of mobility and convenience, economic durability, environmental protection and ecology, improving efficiency, and promoting humanity. The overall structure is designed to be lightweight, using lightweight and durable materials as much as possible, with a sturdy structure. At the same time, the height and width of the toilets are controlled, and the mobile devices are complete and reasonable.
