New Prefabricated Panel House

Admin September 18, 2026

New prefabricated panel houses, also known as modular buildings, are a new form of construction that takes factory-prefabricated modules and on-site assembly as its core construction model.

Construction Model and Core Features

New prefabricated panel houses achieve efficient construction through the “factory prefabrication + on-site assembly” model. The building is disassembled into independent modules, with ceilings, floors, water and electricity pipelines, etc., all prefabricated on the factory assembly line. Once the modules have complete functions, they are transported to the construction site and quickly assembled into shape through standardized interfaces. For example, a public housing project in Shenzhen, Guangdong, used 6,028 concrete modules to complete the construction and delivery of five nearly 100-meter-high residential buildings within one year, shortening the construction period by more than 60% compared to traditional methods.

Significant Construction Advantages

  1. Short construction period: Factory prefabrication and on-site construction are carried out in parallel, reducing on-site operation time. Taking the Shenzhen project as an example, traditional methods would take 2.5 to 3 years, while modular construction only takes 1 year, improving efficiency by more than 60%.
  2. Controllable quality: Each module is equipped with an “ID card” that records information such as the project name, product model, and production date. The positioning accuracy of steel bars is measured in millimeters, and error control is strict, ensuring stable building quality.
  3. Energy-saving and environmentally friendly: Most of the construction processes are completed centrally in the factory, and only on-site pouring and connection are required on-site, significantly reducing noise, dust, construction waste, and traffic congestion. According to statistics, modular construction can reduce on-site pollution emissions by about 70%.
  4. Easy maintenance: The modular design makes maintenance more flexible, allowing for targeted replacement of damaged components, extending the building's service life, and supporting functional upgrades to adapt to diverse application scenarios.

Market and Technological Development

The global modular building market is growing rapidly, with the market size expected to exceed $142.8 billion by 2030. Chinese companies have performed outstandingly in the export sector. In the first four months of 2026, enterprises in the Guangzhou Customs area exported movable houses worth 1.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 38.1%; the export volume at Shenzhen ports reached 1.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.6%. In terms of technological routes, China mainly focuses on steel structures and concrete: steel structures are lightweight and suitable for ocean transportation and high-rise buildings; concrete modules are closer to the traditional living experience and have high acceptance in the domestic market. These two routes are developing in parallel, promoting the widespread application of modular buildings in residential, commercial, emergency shelter, and other fields.
