Modular Wooden Cabin | Less Space, More Experience
This modular wooden cabin in Finland, named Mind Space, is a modern prefabricated retreat designed to give people a dedicated place for reflection, recharging, and relaxation—and for finding inner calm. With a modular layout, it can serve as a spare bedroom, a gym, a home office, and more. Its high flexibility means it can be placed almost anywhere on Earth.
The original idea grew out of the pandemic response. During that period, people spent far more time at home, and the idea of a "home beyond home" was redefined to meet limited travel after the outbreak. This modular space can sit in a backyard, on a rooftop terrace, or among nearby trees, offering a familiar feeling of never having left home.
Inner quiet looks different for everyone. Mind Space is centered on versatility and adaptability. The exterior uses a timber structure that reads like an unworked stone, while the interior functions and style can shift with the user's needs—creating an evolving space that may be a small gym one day and a home office the next. The whole cabin is an assembled modular system, with custom built-in furniture set into the timber wall units so users can adapt it whenever they need.
The entire Mind Space building occupies only 10 square meters. The project's aim is to show that even a very small space can meet basic living needs and still feel comfortable. Create more experience with less space.
Mind Space is not an isolated structure; it is closely tied to the existing natural setting and climate. Built from Finnish natural timber, it can withstand even the harshest Arctic winters, while the nest-like interior—its colors and spatial character—feels deeply comfortable.
The structure is very light and can be moved by crane or helicopter, and it can be set up even in remote places with ease. A resilient foundation suits all terrains and any placement. That quality makes Mind Space more versatile: when our living systems seem upended, it still offers a chance to shape a small personal world around our own needs and desires.
