Modular Sales Pavilion | Temporary Sales Office That Can Be Built Quickly

Admin September 12, 2026

The sales pavilion is a unique building type in Chinese architecture, and it has given rise to a distinctive phenomenon. In China, almost every housing project builds a sales pavilion before sales begin. These pavilions are often lavish and extravagant, yet such costly temporary buildings are usually short-lived and are mostly demolished once their sales function ends.

The waste of resources and design effort led architects to ask how a sales pavilion could be built quickly, adapted to different projects and sites, and—more importantly—dismantled after each use and reassembled at another location, embodying architectural sustainability and extending its life cycle.

Working from these requirements, designers found new inspiration. In our company's temporary sales pavilion project, a modular system of prefabricated steel frames and steel–concrete composite floor units is entirely bolt-connected on site for rapid construction. Five "boxes" with different functions are inserted into the interior; they are linked by a longitudinally continuous open "bridge" on the second floor, and the rest is a spacious, continuous open space for public activities and display.

The modular idea also applies to the building envelope: aluminum curtain walls and glass curtain walls, under a unified modular grid, largely allow free recombination of facade modules for different needs. From the outside, the pavilion reads as a simple horizontal silver tube floating on the water. Visitors enter via a rising bridge over a reflecting pool, pass in from one end of the large tube, move through the different functional spaces inside, exit from the other end, and continue toward the show units behind.
