Modular Hotel | Living with Nature
Nashare Hotel sits in a forest beside Huandao South Road in Xiamen, China. It stands next to the popular Huandao Road beach, faces the Taiwan Strait, and is only a ten-minute drive from the charming cultural town of Zengcuoan. Built in a quiet setting away from the city, it is an ideal hidden world.
The hotel has only 12 guest rooms, most of them individual units. Each unit has its own entrance and courtyard to ensure a quiet, private, home-like experience. In addition, every room looks out on magnificent ocean and forest views.
Nashare Hotel offers two room types. One renovates existing spaces, including container renovations. The other places renovated containers on the hillside. Rocks and trees shape the outlook for every guest room. Renovating and placing the containers is also environmentally friendly. In landscape terms, the design keeps the site close to its original state by reducing artificial elements and blurring the boundary between architecture and its surroundings.
Scattered individual units gather on the site as a cluster, and each unit can fully interact with nature. Because of grade changes, each unit sits at a different height, so the composition reads as a vertical cluster. Although the houses stand apart, they are linked by paths and landscape, emphasizing the experience of nature.
The exposed facades are painted dark gray so they blend into the shadows. Against that gray exterior, warm wood tones inside reflect soft light and create a relaxed atmosphere, especially at night. From space to furniture, the design is simple and restrained.
The pure setting offers a chance to showcase Nashare's design and art. The hotel works with designers and artists to provide spaces for creation, exhibition, and exchange. The space can host painting and photography exhibitions as well as salons, combining relaxation and meditation in this natural environment.
