Mobile Toilet Theft Incidents
Admin September 26, 2026
There have been multiple incidents of mobile toilet theft, as detailed below:

Hefei, Anhui Incident
- Incident Overview: On the evening of August 29, a two-person mobile toilet weighing several hundred kilograms, made by Mr. Jiang, was stolen near the intersection of Tianmen Mountain Road and Longgang Road in Yaohai District, Hefei, Anhui. The toilet, constructed from blue steel plates and standing approximately 2 meters tall, was valued at several thousand yuan. It had been made at the request of a client and was ready for delivery upon completion.
- Theft Reason: The suspect, Xia, committed the theft with two accomplices late at night due to the inconvenience of having many people at home needing to use the toilet. They drove a tricycle to the scene and loaded the toilet onto it before fleeing.
- Subsequent Handling: Xia hid the toilet under his residential building and repeatedly denied responsibility, claiming the toilet had no owner and that he stole it for the use of elderly family members. Currently, the value of the stolen mobile toilet is pending appraisal, Xia has been taken into custody, and the case is under further investigation.
Herefordshire, UK Incident
- Incident Overview: Thirty-five mobile portable toilets were stolen from a racetrack in Herefordshire, UK, valued at £40,000. The thieves撬开 (撬开 means 'pried open' in Chinese, here translated as 'broke into') the padlocks during the night after a racing event and transported the toilets away using a Ford van and trailer. Some of the toilets were still full and had not tipped over; they were moved one by one while standing upright.
- Impact: These toilets were purchased last year by Neil Griffiths, who runs a toilet rental company. A quarter of his total inventory was stolen, causing significant impact to his business. Replacing one toilet costs approximately £1,000, and two mobile toilets for disabled individuals, each valued at around £1,500, were also stolen.
- Investigation Progress: West Mercia Police have received a report and the investigation is ongoing.
From these incidents, it can be seen that mobile toilet theft occurs both domestically and internationally, with various motives ranging from personal use needs to potential profit-seeking. Such incidents not only cause economic losses to the toilet owners but also disrupt the normal use of related venues.
