Self-made Mobile Toilet

Admin September 20, 2026

Mobile toilets can be made by yourself, with common methods including using a water storage tank or discarded tiles. Here are the specific introductions:

Making a Portable Toilet Using a Water Storage Tank

This is a relatively simple method. First, prepare a water storage tank of an appropriate size. Its capacity should be selected according to actual usage needs. For general household use, a water storage tank with a capacity of around 20 - 50 liters can be chosen. Then, install a toilet seat ring on top of the water storage tank. The toilet seat ring can be made by purchasing suitable accessories or using some plastic sheets to make it yourself. When making it, ensure that the connection between the toilet seat ring and the water storage tank is firm to avoid shaking or displacement during use. Next, install a drainage valve on one side of the water storage tank to facilitate the discharge of sewage after use. To increase comfort and privacy during use, you can also build a simple frame around the water storage tank and cover it with a cloth curtain or plastic sheet. This type of portable toilet has a low production cost and is easy to operate, making it suitable for use in temporary locations or outdoor activities.

Making a Portable Toilet Using Discarded Tiles

The steps of this method are relatively more complex. First, place the toilet on the tiles and draw red marking lines along the edge of the toilet. This step is to determine the range for cutting the tiles. Then, use an angle grinder to cut out a rectangular tile block that is slightly larger than the bottom of the toilet. Pay attention to safety during cutting and wear protective goggles and gloves. Turn the rectangular tile over and place a caster wheel at each of the four corners. Mark the points, drill holes, and then fix the caster wheels. Cut off the protruding bolts to ensure that the caster wheels are firmly installed and rotate flexibly. Put the toilet back on the tiles, draw marking lines and the position of the sewage outlet, and thread a hose from the bottom of the tiles and fix it. Ensure the tightness of the hose at this step to prevent sewage leakage. Then, apply cement to attach the toilet, install accessories such as a water tank and a toilet lid, and finally put the sewage hose into the drain pipe and connect the water tank to the water inlet pipe. After these steps, a portable toilet made from discarded tiles is completed. It has certain stability and practicality and is suitable for use in places with drainage conditions.
