Mobile Toilet Floor Tile Laying
Admin September 21, 2026
Mobile toilet floor tile laying requires a combination of foundation treatment and standardized construction procedures. The specific steps and precautions are as follows:

I. Foundation Treatment Requirements
- Concrete Cushion Layer: If a cement foundation is used, a 15cm-thick concrete cushion layer must be poured to ensure ground bearing capacity and stability.
- Drainage Slope: Reserve a drainage slope of ≥2% to prevent water accumulation, which could lead to slippery floors or leakage. Special attention should be paid to the position of the mobile toilet's drainage outlet to ensure the correct slope direction.
II. Floor Tile Laying Process
Soaking Floor Tiles:
- Completely immerse the tiles in water for more than 2 hours to allow them to fully absorb moisture, preventing hollow or cracked tiles after laying due to absorption of moisture from the cement.
- Before laying, drain the surface moisture to prevent it from affecting the cement's bonding effect.
Establishing Guide Lines:
- Hang vertical lines on the walls to determine the spacing between the tiles and the walls; establish horizontal lines to ensure ground flatness.
- Guide lines assist in adjusting tile alignment, preventing unevenness or tilting.
Laying Operation:
- Start from the Corners: Begin laying from corners far from the door to prevent stepping on tiles that have not yet dried, reducing the risk of damage.
- Order and Direction: Typically, start from the door side or window and lay tiles in a left-to-right, top-to-bottom order to maintain overall aesthetics.
- Cement Thickness Control: Use a trowel to evenly apply cement to the back of the tiles, with an appropriate thickness (too thick makes them slippery, too thin reduces bonding strength). Then, gently tap the tiles with a rubber mallet to ensure the cement fully fills the gaps and the tiles are tightly bonded to the ground.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Clean surface stains promptly after laying to prevent difficulty in removal after the cement hardens.
- For severe stains, clean with a 10% dilute hydrochloric acid solution (test the tile's acid resistance first). After cleaning glazed tiles, spray a thin layer of polishing agent and wipe with a soft cloth to maintain shine.
III. Key Precautions
Material Quality:
- Cement must pass 3C certification; avoid using products nearing their expiration date. River sand is preferred for better bonding.
- Anti-slip tiles should be suitable for mobile toilet use scenarios, with an appropriate surface roughness to prevent slipping.
Hollow Prevention:
- Tiles must be fully soaked; insufficient soaking time leads to uneven water absorption, causing hollow tiles.
- Avoid forcefully tapping the edges of tiles during laying to prevent edge damage or cracking.
Construction Environment:
- Mobile toilets have limited space; ensure ventilation to prevent the accumulation of cement or adhesive fumes, which could affect health.
- After construction, allow the tiles to set for more than 24 hours until the cement is fully cured before use to prevent tile displacement.
By following standardized foundation treatment, strict material selection, and standardized construction procedures, mobile toilet floor tiles can be laid firmly, with smooth drainage and aesthetic durability.
