Currently, there is no unified and specific local standard for container houses in Kaifeng. Their construction and use mostly follow general norms and industry experience. Details are as follows:

Structure and Materials

• Structural Form: Container houses commonly seen in Kaifeng are often refurbished from discarded containers or built using modular structures similar to containers. They use light steel as the framework and sandwich panels as the enclosure materials. Components are connected with bolts, enabling easy loading, unloading, and standardized temporary construction of buildings.
• Material Requirements: Sandwich panels are generally composed of a high-strength surface material laminated with a lightweight, lower-strength core material, providing certain flame-retardant and thermal insulation properties. For example, when cold-formed thin-walled steel is used for framework forming, the perpendicularity error between columns and beams is controlled within millimeters. Double-sided galvanized steel plates and environmentally friendly rock wool are continuously foamed and compounded under high temperature and pressure to form sandwich wall panels, meeting flame-retardant standards and thermal insulation requirements.

Performance Indicators

• Wind Resistance: Generally, they are required to withstand certain wind speeds. For instance, some products can resist wind speeds of 75 km/h, and products with thickened galvanized steel structures combined with a three-layer anti-rust and anti-corrosion spraying process can withstand Level 13 strong winds.
• Snow Load Capacity: Some container houses can bear a snow load of up to 100 kg/m².
• Service Life: Under normal conditions, the service life can reach 15 to 20 years.
• Air Tightness: For container fumigation houses and other special-purpose houses, air tightness must comply with the usage standards for port quarantine operations. According to the pressure test method, the time it takes for the gas pressure inside the warehouse to decay from 200 PA to 100 PA must meet the requirements.

Safety and Compliance

• Fire Safety: The walls are filled with high-density inorganic fibers that do not spread when exposed to open flames, complying with relevant fire safety standards.
• Compliance: Container fumigation houses must be compatible with the three mainstream quarantine fumigation agents: methyl bromide, sulfuryl fluoride, and phosphorus fluoride, to meet different operational needs. Moreover, the products must have corresponding special patents to ensure operational compliance.
