Huizhou Intelligent Mobile Toilet
There are practices related to intelligent mobile toilets in Huizhou, mainly reflected in the upgrading and renovation of public toilets and the 'tide toilet' model.

Upgrading and Renovation of Public Toilets
The Huizhou City Appearance and Environmental Sanitation Affairs Center has carried out a comprehensive upgrading and renovation of 18 public toilets in the Huicheng central area, focusing on three aspects: appearance, facilities, and air purification. Taking the Longfeng Park public toilet as an example, all toilet stalls have been upgraded with intelligent induction flushing equipment, enabling automated operations of 'ready for use upon arrival and flushing upon departure', avoiding cross-infection through contact. Each toilet stall is equipped with a usage status indicator module, displaying 'occupied/unoccupied' status through door lintel lights, facilitating citizens to quickly find available toilet stalls. Meanwhile, the use of bidirectional fresh air machines and nano deodorization equipment has effectively improved the air quality inside the public toilets.
'Tide Toilet' Model
- Purpose of Establishment: To address the phenomenon of long queues of women waiting to use the toilet during major holidays at the Huizhou West Lake Scenic Area, the 'tide toilet' has been introduced. This is a local practice in which public toilets transition from 'construction according to standards' to 'fine management following the flow of people', with the core aim of cost-effectively and efficiently alleviating the common pain point of women having difficulty using the toilet in the scenic area and optimizing the travel experience of tourists.
- Specific Facilities: The 'tide toilet' in the Huizhou West Lake Scenic Area covers a total area of 238 square meters. It is equipped with 2 barrier-free toilet stalls, 1 third toilet, 8 female toilet stalls, and 12 male toilet stalls (including 7 urinals). It is also equipped with an intelligent system and is a 3A smart toilet in the West Lake Scenic Area.
- Operation Method: By setting up several 'gender-neutral general toilet stalls' and using movable signs or lockable sliding doors, the usage permissions are dynamically adjusted according to real-time pedestrian flow. Previously, the male and female signs at the entrance of the public toilets involved could be manually toggled to change. However, due to management loopholes and safety hazards, the toggleable signs have been removed and will soon be replaced with fixed slot-type door plates.
- Implementation Effect: After activation, the queuing time for female toilets has been reduced from half an hour to less than 10 minutes. During the 2026 Spring Festival, a total of three public toilets in the Huizhou West Lake Scenic Area that were officially put into pilot operation and included in the tide scheduling are located beside the northeast side of Zhunti Temple, beside the East Gate, and beside the Danli Pavilion.
