How to Transform Prefabricated Panels in House Renovation

Admin September 19, 2026

In house renovation involving prefabricated panels, there are mainly two scenarios: transforming an old prefabricated-panel house into a frame structure and manufacturing prefabricated panels. The specific methods are as follows:

Transforming an Old Prefabricated-Panel House into a Frame Structure

If you want to transform an old prefabricated-panel house into a frame structure, currently, the wall-to-beam transformation technology can reach up to 7 floors, and a three-story prefabricated-panel house can be renovated. The core principle is to first set up supports, which play a crucial role during the renovation process. Since the original load-bearing structure of a prefabricated-panel house mainly consists of walls and prefabricated panels, when transforming the walls into beams for load-bearing, a reliable support system must be established before removing the walls to bear the weight of the house originally carried by the walls and prevent safety accidents such as collapse during the renovation. The support system needs to be scientifically and reasonably designed and constructed according to factors such as the specific structure and weight distribution of the house to ensure sufficient strength and stability.

Manufacturing of Prefabricated Panels

  • Preliminary Preparation: Before manufacturing, workers use steel plates to make enclosures. This step is to shape the prefabricated panels into appropriate sizes and shapes. At the same time, a release agent is sprayed. The function of the release agent is to enable the prefabricated panels to be smoothly separated from the enclosures after the concrete solidifies, ensuring the surface quality of the prefabricated panels and avoiding issues such as adhesion and damage.
  • Reinforcement Arrangement: Distribution bars and main bars (steel strands) are erected. Distribution bars and main bars play a role in enhancing the structural strength and load-bearing capacity of the prefabricated panels. Distribution bars mainly serve to fix the positions of the main bars, evenly transfer the loads to the main bars, and resist temperature and shrinkage stresses. Main bars directly bear the main tensile or compressive forces, ensuring that the prefabricated panels can withstand various loads without damage during use.
  • Concrete Pouring: The pre-tensioning method is adopted, that is, the steel bars are stretched to a certain strength before pouring concrete and then wait for the concrete to solidify. In some prefabricated panel manufacturing processes, a layer of cement is first laid, giant foam is placed and fixed with iron hooks, and then concrete is poured, and air bubbles are removed with a vibrating rod. This can ensure the compactness of the concrete and improve the quality and strength of the prefabricated panels.
  • Curing and Cutting: High-temperature steam curing or natural curing is carried out. The purpose of curing is to allow the concrete to fully undergo hydration reactions and gradually reach the designed strength. Finally, precise cutting is performed with a CNC electric saw to cut the manufactured prefabricated panels according to the designed sizes to meet different usage requirements.
