Home Portable Temporary Toilet
Home portable temporary toilets can be achieved through homemade solutions or by selecting ready-made facilities. The specific plans are as follows:

I. Homemade Plan: Transforming a Water Storage Barrel into a Portable Toilet
Basic Structure Construction
- Cutting and Mobility Design: Use an angle grinder to split the water storage barrel vertically into two halves. Install universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board to enable mobility. Fix wooden strips to the upper side of the barrel with self-tapping screws to increase the overall height and form a supporting frame.
- Wall and Roof Construction: Cut an entrance on the side of the water storage barrel, install sponge strips to form a door frame, and embed plastic soft boards to create raised walls. Invert the upper half of the barrel onto the top of the wooden strips as the roof, and apply white waterproof paint to the surface to enhance aesthetics and durability.
Internal Device Configuration
- Drainage System: Drill a hole at the bottom of the barrel to install a drain pipe, forming a floor drain. Connect direct fittings to the side and bottom holes, and insert a plastic barrel to create a small water storage device.
- Bathing Function: Use water pipes to make a simple shower heater. Install a tee fitting below the inlet pipe and connect a showerhead. Extend the outlet pipe tee horizontally to the entrance as the inlet pipe for a handwashing basin, and install corresponding fittings and hoses.
- Toilet Facilities: Place a toilet and fix the water tank, using glass glue to seal the connection. Connect the end of the drain pipe to a sewage barrel to ensure centralized sewage treatment.
II. Ready-Made Portable Toilet Facilities
Basic Components
Includes a fecal sewage storage tank (or disposal device), flooring, sanitary ware, walls, washing equipment, a water tank, a roof, and mobility devices. The internal space is approximately 1 square meter, equipped with a squat toilet, a handwashing faucet, and a status-indicating door bolt (pulling the bolt shows 'Occupied', pulling it open shows 'Vacant').Operating Logic
- Step on the first black ball to trigger automatic flushing of the squat toilet;
- Step on the second black ball to start water supply from the faucet;
- Sewage is diverted to the storage tank or disposal device through a dual-ball control system.
Application Scenarios and Classifications
- Suitable Locations: Stations, docks, tourist attractions, villa areas, newly built residential areas, large construction sites, squares, and commercial streets, etc.
- Structural Forms: Single-unit structure (independent unit) and composite structure (multi-unit combination).
- Mobility Methods: Lifting/handling type (manual or mechanical movement), powered/towing type (vehicle traction).
- Sewage Treatment: Water-flush type (requires a water source), waterless suction type (vacuum sewage suction), recirculating water-flush type (sewage purification and reuse), and dry packing type (solid feces encapsulation).
Summary: The homemade plan has lower costs but requires hands-on skills, suitable for temporary emergencies. The ready-made facilities offer complete functions and flexible mobility, allowing selection of structure, mobility method, and sewage treatment type according to needs, suitable for long-term or high-frequency use scenarios.
