Fuding Offshore Mobile Toilet
The Fuding offshore mobile toilet mainly involves two aspects: the 'toilet revolution' for local fishermen and the rental service of mobile toilets.
Situation of the Fishermen's 'Toilet Revolution'
Over 1,200 fishing households reside in Shacheng Port, Fuding, living on fishing rafts near the coast throughout the year. Before the renovation, the toilets used by fishermen were extremely rudimentary, with sewage directly discharged into the sea. This method of sewage discharge brought about numerous serious problems. On one hand, it led to a decline in seawater quality, triggering eutrophication in the sea, disrupting the balance of the marine ecological environment, and being unfavorable for the growth and reproduction of marine organisms. On the other hand, it also affected the quality of aquatic products, posing a potential threat to the local fishery economy.
To improve this situation, the local area launched the 'toilet revolution.' Sewage is treated through offshore septic tanks, undergoing a series of steps such as anaerobic hydrolysis and biodegradation, so that the various indicators of the sewage meet the first-level standard of the comprehensive sewage discharge standard before being discharged into the sea. This renovation project was expected to be fully completed by June 2020. After the renovation, the results were remarkable. Many fishermen and owners of fishing-related leisure businesses reported a significant improvement in water quality and expressed their support and understanding of the government's approach.
