Export of Prefabricated Concrete Components for Housing

Admin September 18, 2026

Prefabricated concrete components for housing are usually exported in the form of modular buildings. In recent years, China's exports have grown significantly and have been recognized by overseas markets due to multiple advantages.

Export Growth

  • Export Value Growth: From 2015 to 2025, China's export value of prefabricated buildings nearly tripled in a decade. In the first quarter of 2026, the growth rate reached 45%, and the total export value in the first half of the year reached $2.79 billion, a year-on-year increase of 45%.
  • Market Distribution: The export markets have made breakthroughs at multiple points, with the ASEAN region showing outstanding growth. For example, in the first seven months of this year, the Shatian Customs under the Huangpu Customs supervised the export of 23 batches of modular houses with a value of 548 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.3 times. The products cover more than 20 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom and Australia.
  • Enterprise Export Performance: Guangdong CIMC Construction Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has independently developed an integrated steel-structure modular building system. Its overseas orders have continued to grow, and the delivery value of modular buildings in the first half of the year reached 59.772 million yuan. At the Shenzhen port alone, the export value of portable houses in the first half of 2026 reached 2.45 billion yuan.

Export Advantages

  • Rapid Delivery: Most of the processes are completed in the factory, and they can be directly assembled on-site after arriving at the destination, significantly shortening the construction period. For example, for a modular elderly care apartment manufactured in China and purchased by a British merchant, the 63 modules were assembled on-site in just two weeks after arrival; a Philippine developer built a 12-story fully furnished apartment building in 9 days using Chinese 'prefabricated houses'.
  • Cost Advantage: The prices are competitive, especially in regions with high labor costs such as Europe and the United States. For example, when building camps in remote mining areas in Australia, the cost of modular housing imported from China is about 30% lower than that of local construction; the high cost of construction workers in the United States makes Chinese-produced prefabricated houses more cost-effective.
  • Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency: As a characteristic and advantageous category of China's equipment manufacturing exports, it meets the requirements of environmental protection and energy efficiency.
  • Strong Adaptability: It can be widely used in various scenarios such as hotels, apartments, dormitories, office buildings, hospitals, and even data centers.
  • Controllable Quality: Produced in the factory, the quality is more guaranteed.
