Dimensions and Specifications of Portable Toilets

Admin October 09, 2026

The dimensions and specifications of portable toilets vary depending on their type and usage scenarios. Common specifications are as follows:

1. Single-Compartment Portable Toilet
The length ranges from 1.1 to 1.5 meters. The standard size is 110 cm in length, 110 cm in width, and 230 cm in height, while the mini version measures 100 cm in length, 100 cm in width, and 220 cm in height. The width typically ranges from 1.0 to 1.2 meters, and the height is generally based on 2.2 meters, with some reaching up to 2.5 meters. These toilets are suitable for construction sites, small events, and other scenarios with limited space or temporary needs. The design must meet basic usage functions while considering transportation convenience.

2. Double-Compartment Portable Toilet
The length ranges from 1.8 to 3.0 meters. The standard size is 180 cm in length, 110 cm in width, and 230 cm in height. The width ranges from 1.2 to 1.5 meters, and the height is similar to that of single-compartment toilets, ranging from 2.2 to 2.5 meters. Their usage scenarios extend to large events, tourist attractions, team-building venues, etc., requiring accommodation for two people simultaneously or providing more spacious areas. The design must balance capacity and floor space.

3. Multi-Functional Portable Toilet
The length ranges from 3.0 to 4.5 meters, the width from 2.0 to 2.5 meters, and the height from 2.5 to 3.0 meters. These toilets are commonly found at high-end events and long-term fixed locations (such as construction site living areas). In addition to basic sanitary facilities, they may integrate management rooms, storage rooms, or barrier-free facilities, meeting long-term usage needs. Material selection focuses more on durability and waterproof and moisture-proof properties.

4. Barrier-Free Portable Toilet
The dimensions are 180 cm in length, 150 cm in width, and 240 cm in height, with reserved space for wheelchair rotation inside (with a diameter of no less than 1.5 meters) and a door width of ≥0.9 meters to facilitate wheelchair access. These toilets are commonly found in public areas such as large parks and scenic spot entrances. The design must comply with barrier-free specifications, including details such as handrail height and floor slip resistance.

Additional Design Considerations

  • Ergonomics: The toilet compartment width should be ≥0.9 meters, and the sink height should be recommended at 0.8-0.9 meters to accommodate different user habits.
  • Materials and Structure: Lightweight and high-strength materials (such as fiberglass reinforced plastic and aluminum alloy) should be selected, considering both waterproof and moisture-proof properties and corrosion resistance.
  • Standards and Specifications: Compliance with the Urban Public Toilet Design Standard (CJJ 14-2016) is required to ensure ventilation, lighting, sewage discharge, and other indicators meet standards.

The choice of dimensions should comprehensively consider usage scenarios, pedestrian traffic density, transportation conditions, and other factors, prioritizing functionality and safety requirements.
