Container Houses and Micro Residences
Container houses and micro residences are two types of architectural forms with distinct characteristics but some interconnections.

Container Houses:
Container houses are residential or office buildings formed by transforming shipping containers as their basic structural modules. They are also known as container mobile homes, container residences, or inhabitable containers. They are commonly used as workers' dormitories on construction sites, and some people also use them as rental housing. They have many notable features. Sturdiness and durability are one of their important characteristics. The structural strength of containers is relatively high, enabling them to withstand a certain degree of external impact and providing a relatively safe living environment for occupants. Easy construction is another advantage. Since containers are standardized modules, they can be quickly assembled and disassembled on-site, significantly shortening the construction period and improving construction efficiency. In addition, they are also environmentally friendly, flexible, and cost-effective, and are widely used in areas such as temporary housing, creative spaces, and post-disaster emergency buildings. For example, the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games in Japan will use container houses to form the Asian Games Village. Shandong Zaozhuang's Shanting District in China has used container houses to create a characteristic homestay scenic spot. There are also innovative applications in emergency medical facility construction and the commercial sector, such as being transformed into 24-hour self-service fitness pods.
Micro Residences:
Container residences that are ready to move in fall within the category of micro residences. Each residence is about 12 meters long and is built with fire-resistant steel. They are fully mass-produced and ready to move in. These micro residences place greater emphasis on standardization and scale in design and production. Mass production can reduce costs and improve production efficiency. At the same time, the use of fire-resistant steel in construction enhances the safety of the residences and meets certain fire safety requirements. The ready-to-move-in feature provides great convenience for occupants, allowing them to move in directly without the need for cumbersome interior decoration and furniture configuration.
