Container House Roof Waterproofing Treatment
The waterproofing treatment of container house roofs should be carried out comprehensively from four aspects: design, materials, construction, and maintenance, achieving long-term waterproofing through scientific planning and attention to detail.

Design Aspect: Optimize Drainage Structure
Waterproofing of container house roofs should prioritize prevention, reducing the risk of water accumulation through reasonable design. Setting upward flanges at the top edges of open-top containers can effectively block rainwater from directly flowing into the container. The roof slope design should meet drainage requirements, with a general recommended slope of no less than 3% to ensure rapid flow of rainwater to the drainage system. The配套设置 (matching setup, here referring to the coordinated installation) of drainage channels and drainage holes is crucial. Drainage channels guide rainwater to drainage holes, which should have a diameter of no less than 50mm to prevent blockage and ensure timely drainage, preventing accumulation on the roof.
Material Selection: Build Multi-Layer Protection
Material performance directly affects waterproofing effectiveness. Soft-top materials (such as canvas and coated fabric) should have high-strength waterproof coatings. The PVC or PU coatings on coated fabrics can effectively resist ultraviolet rays and rainwater erosion. For the joints of hard-top containers, sealing strips should be used to fill gaps, and these strips should have aging resistance and elastic recovery properties. The roof waterproofing system is recommended to adopt three lines of defense: a base waterproof layer (such as waterproof membrane) provides basic anti-permeability, a reinforcing layer (such as fiberglass cloth) enhances structural stability, and a surface protective coating (such as acrylic coating) resists mechanical damage. Joint treatment should use flexible waterproof materials (such as polyurethane coatings and modified bitumen membranes), and drainage ditches or elevation offsets should be set at gaps to prevent water flow convergence and leakage points.
Construction Specifications: Ensure Sealing Quality
The construction process requires strict control over details. Soft-top installation should use tensioning devices to flatten the material, avoiding local depressions that can cause water accumulation. Connections such as roof panels, edges, drainage outlets, and ventilation openings should adopt continuous sealing processes, using special sealants or welding techniques to ensure no gaps. Drainage outlet installation should include anti-backflow structures, such as adding baffles or raising the bottom elevation of drainage outlets. Ventilation opening waterproofing should use waterproof louvers or deflectors to prevent rainwater backflow.
Maintenance Management: Regular Inspection and Repair
During long-term use, the waterproof layer may develop leaks due to aging or external force damage. Regular inspections should cover key areas such as the roof, drainage system, and sealing strips, with a focus on checking whether drainage holes are blocked and whether sealing strips are cracked. The maintenance cycle is recommended to be once every six months, with additional special inspections before the rainy season. Repair measures include cleaning the drainage system, replacing aged sealing strips, and reapplying waterproof coatings. Any leakage points should be addressed immediately to prevent the problem from expanding.
