Container House and Water Pipe House

Admin September 15, 2026

There are significant differences between container houses and water pipe houses in terms of structure, functionality, application scenarios, and cost:

Structure and Stability

  • Container House: Based on shipping containers or using steel structural frames, container houses form an integral structure through welding or bolting. They have strong structural stability and excellent wind and earthquake resistance. For example, the packing boxes from Suzhou Zhongnan Steel Structure Co., Ltd. have a frame deformation rate of only 0.18% under the conditions of a Level 12 typhoon and a Level 8 earthquake, which is far below the industry's qualified threshold.
  • Water Pipe House: Usually adopt a lightweight frame structure, such as a square steel tube main body, equipped with water pipes, sanitary facilities, etc. Their structural stability is relatively weak and they are more suitable for environments with low wind pressure and low earthquake intensity.

Functionality and Configuration

  • Container House: They offer diverse functions and can be customized according to needs. Internally, they can be equipped with complete living facilities such as bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms, with pre-embedded pipelines for easy move-in. Some high-end products also integrate solar power supply, sewage treatment systems, etc., to enhance living comfort.
  • Water Pipe House: Centered around the water pipe system, they are equipped with basic sanitary facilities (such as toilets and showers) and kitchen facilities (such as stainless steel sinks). Their functionality is relatively simple, mainly meeting basic living needs.

Application Scenarios

  • Container House: Widely used in engineering camps, temporary government and enterprise buildings, commercial pop-up stores, etc. Their characteristics of rapid deployment, strong mobility, and reusability make them the first choice for temporary housing and mobile offices.
  • Water Pipe House: More suitable for scenarios with low requirements for living conditions, such as field operations and temporary medical points. Their lightweight and easy-to-install features give them an advantage in these scenarios.

Cost and Reusability

  • Container House: The initial purchase cost is relatively high, but the long-term use cost is low. Their steel structural frames are highly durable and can be reused multiple times, reducing the overall cost.
  • Water Pipe House: The initial purchase cost is relatively low, but their durability is weak and their reusability is limited. In scenarios that require frequent relocation or long-term use, their overall cost may be higher than that of container houses.
