Myanmar 2018 Aid: 1,000 Prefab Houses

On October 27, a handover ceremony for 1,000 prefab houses donated by the Chinese government to Myanmar was held at Thilawa Port in Yangon. Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang and Myanmar Deputy Minister of Construction Kyaw Lin signed the handover certificates on behalf of the two governments; Ambassador Hong Liang presented the certificates to Kyaw Tint Swe, Minister of the Office of the State Counsellor of Myanmar, marking the official transfer of the materials. The 1,000 prefab houses were manufactured by Beijing Chengdong International Camp Integrated Housing Co., Ltd.

Facing flooding triggered by prolonged heavy rainfall across many parts of Myanmar, and an emergency in which hundreds of thousands of people needed shelter, Chengdong responded immediately and completed the full process of producing, packing, and consolidating 1,000 modular container houses in only 30 days, strongly supporting the orderly progress of the relief and resettlement effort.
