Admin September 15, 2026

The common sizes of container houses in Zhangye include 3m (length) × 3m (width) × 2.8m (height), 6m × 3m × 2.8m, 7m × 3m × 2.8m, as well as custom sizes according to requirements.

I. Standard Sizes

  1. 3m × 3m × 2.8m
With an area of 9 square meters, this is a small-sized container house suitable for scenarios with limited space requirements, such as temporary storage rooms or small tool sheds. Due to its small size, attention should be paid to material utilization during production to avoid waste.

  2. 6m × 3m × 2.8m
Covering an area of 18 square meters, this is the most common standard size on the market, widely used in construction sites, road construction, and other scenarios. Its interior space can accommodate 6 bunk beds, meeting the living needs of about 8 people while leaving extra space for activities.

  3. 7m × 3m × 2.8m
With an area of 21 square meters, this size is often used for two-story container mobile homes, equipped with corridors and balconies, suitable as temporary offices or comprehensive living spaces.

II. Custom Sizes

According to customer needs, the size of container houses can be flexibly adjusted. For example:

  • Duplex Container Houses: Space expansion is achieved by splicing multiple containers. For instance, after splicing three 40-foot containers, the size is 11.8m × 6.75m × 2.8m, with a usable area of up to 80 square meters. The interior can be arranged with functional areas such as living rooms, bedrooms, and office areas.
  • Irregular Container Houses: Non-standard sizes are designed according to specific scenarios, such as container houses for camping sites and milk tea shops provided in the Zhangye area. The size needs to be determined in consultation with the manufacturer based on the actual use.

III. International Standard Size References

Commonly used dry cargo container sizes internationally include:

  • 20-foot Container: Inner dimensions of 5898mm × 2352mm × 2390mm.
  • 40-foot Container: Inner dimensions of 12024mm × 2352mm × 2390mm.
  • 40-foot High Cube Container: Inner volume of 13.58m × 2.34m × 2.68m.

These sizes are mostly used for cargo transportation but can also be transformed as the basic structure of container houses.
