An "accessible" restroom has been put into use at the Badaling Great Wall Ancient Scenic Area to serve the Beijing Winter Paralympics. Inside, it is fitted with touchless induction switches, electric doors, foldable handrails, hooks, a nursing table, an emergency call system, and other facilities, greatly enhancing convenience and safety in use. This restroom is also a biodegradable one, where a single water injection allows for multiple cycles of use, and waste can be effectively degraded. Additionally, it is equipped with intelligent electrical equipment to maintain a temperature of around 15℃ and features a PLC system for intelligent control of fans and heating systems.
Eco-friendly Public Toilets
Eco-friendly public toilets have been installed in 13 venues for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Based on solid-liquid separation technology, they achieve harmless treatment of waste through microbial decomposition. During initial operation, a one-time injection of 70-80 kilograms of water is required to maintain microbial activity, and they subsequently offer features such as water conservation, mobility, and waterless flushing. Some models are equipped with intelligent temperature control systems that can operate at temperatures exceeding 60℃, providing both sterilization and disinfection functions. Modern technology decomposes feces into carbon dioxide, water, and organic fertilizer through microbial communities, and also applies 5G and the Internet of Things for remote monitoring.
