Renovation of Mobile Toilets in Qitai, Xinjiang
Qitai County in Xinjiang has achieved remarkable results in the renovation of mobile toilets, taking multiple measures to enhance public toilet service levels.

Renovation Quantity and Coverage
Since 2024, Qitai County has continuously advanced the construction and renovation projects of urban toilets, building (renovating) 24 public toilets. These public toilets have a wide coverage, including not only main roads such as Jiankang West Road, Dongfeng South Street, Youhao Road, and Gucheng North Street, but also residential areas, urban pocket parks, Shuimohe scenic belts, and other recreational venues. They even extend to the peripheries of kindergartens and middle schools like No. 4 Middle School, greatly facilitating the use of citizens and tourists in different areas.
Humanistic Care in Functional Design
In terms of functional design, the newly built public toilets fully incorporate the concept of humanistic care. In addition to reasonably allocating male and female toilet stalls, each public toilet is equipped with barrier-free restrooms. This measure ensures the convenience of toilet use for special groups such as the elderly and the disabled, reflecting attention and respect for the needs of different groups of people and enhancing the public service quality of public toilets.
Strict Environmental Hygiene Management
The county's housing and urban-rural development department strictly implements public toilet cleaning standards and arranges dedicated personnel for daily cleaning and disinfection work. Through standardized management, it ensures that public toilets are clean, tidy, and odor-free, providing users with a good toilet environment and enhancing the overall sanitary image of the city.
Flexible and Diverse Construction Forms
Currently, there are 36 free public toilets in the urban area of the county. During construction, various forms such as brick-concrete, steel structure, and finished product assembly are flexibly adopted, which can be tailored to the environmental characteristics of different areas according to local conditions. This not only ensures the practicality and stability of public toilets but also takes into account aesthetics and harmony with the surrounding environment.
Improvement of Tourism Infrastructure
In the 2024 Mobile Toilet (Prefabricated Toilet) Allocation Project for Key Tourist Routes (Second Batch), a batch of prefabricated mobile toilets were purchased for key tourist routes in Qitai County, such as the Tianshan No. 1 Scenic Road. This further improves tourism infrastructure construction, enhances tourism service quality, and provides tourists with a more convenient and comfortable tourism experience.
Future Plans
An official from the Qitai County Urban Management Comprehensive Service Center stated that so far, 12 public toilets have been replaced and updated, 8 have been newly built, 4 have been upgraded and renovated, and the facilities of 3 public toilets have been improved. In the future, it is planned to continue building more toilets at suitable locations throughout the city to solve the problem of citizens' toilet use and lay a solid sanitary foundation for the high-quality development of Qitai and the optimization of the business environment.
