In August 2025, Wuhan opened its first tidal public toilet at the Yangtze River Bridge's Hanyang Bridgehead. This toilet adopts an innovative design concept, achieving dynamic adjustment of male and female toilet cubicles through physical partitions. A lockable sliding tidal door is installed between the male and female toilets, creating a universally accessible toilet cubicle area that can be connected in both directions. Management personnel can flexibly adjust the allocation of toilet cubicles according to the flow of people at different times and for different genders, improving the utilization efficiency of toilet cubicles. In addition, the tidal public toilet is equipped with a series of supporting measures, such as an intelligent toilet guidance system to help tourists quickly find available toilet cubicles; dedicated management personnel on duty to ensure the normal operation and hygiene of the toilets. Some toilets are also equipped with negative pressure exhaust systems to effectively remove odors and keep the air fresh; and third toilets are set up to provide convenience for special groups such as the disabled and parents with young children.
