Wilderness Eight Container Houses
A typical example of eight container houses in the wilderness is the five-member family residence on the cliffs outside Stockholm. Here are the details:

Construction Background and Purpose
This residence is constructed from eight assembled 20' and 40' second-hand high-cube shipping containers, serving as a private home for a family of five. The builders, in pursuit of the ultimate experience, such as beautiful scenery, fresh air, and tranquility, spared no effort to create their ideal home. This container mansion built on the cliffs was even nominated for the 2019 Swedish Young Architect Award (Ung Svensk Arkitektur).
Geographic Location and Environment
The residence is situated on a steep slope outside Stockholm, adjacent to a picturesque lake. This location not only offers an excellent view but also allows residents to fully enjoy the peace and beauty of nature.
Design and Structural Features
- Terrain Adaptation: To accommodate the slope of the cliffs, the containers on the first floor are shorter than those on the second floor, and the structural walls of the containers make the upper level height greater than the entrance height.
- Stacking Method: These containers are stacked one by one on-site, with the top container serving as a skylight for children to enjoy the surrounding scenery.
- Internal Structure: The internal structure of the residence is designed as a duplex, thanks to the replacement of container ports with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, which provide excellent indoor lighting and ventilation, connecting the indoor and outdoor scenery.
- Decoration Materials: All walls are made of plywood, and the stairs are painted white, creating a warm and rustic living atmosphere.
Functional Area Division
Although the specific functional area division is not detailed, based on the general design principles of container houses, it can be inferred that the residence may include basic living areas such as a living room, bedrooms, kitchen, and bathroom, and may also feature special areas such as observation skylights.
