Where are Prefabricated Houses Implemented

Admin September 18, 2026

Prefabricated houses are implemented in many places in China, and some products have been exported to European countries.

I. Key Promotion Regions in China

  1. Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region
As the economic core area of northern China, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is a key promotion area for prefabricated assembled houses. In 2023, Beijing's newly started construction area of prefabricated buildings reached 11.4518 million square meters, accounting for 47.44% of newly built structures, demonstrating large-scale application driven by policies. Tianjin and major cities in Hebei are also advancing simultaneously, forming a regional coordinated development pattern.

  2. Yangtze River Delta Region
Centered around Shanghai, this region covers major cities in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces. In 2023, Shanghai's newly started construction area of prefabricated buildings reached 46 million square meters, with a cumulative area exceeding 310 million square meters, making it the largest application region in the country. Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and other places are promoting the popularization of prefabricated houses in affordable housing and commercial buildings through policy guidance and technical standard formulation.

  3. Pearl River Delta Region
Centered around Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and driven by the development of the northern metropolitan area of Hong Kong, the prefabricated construction market is active. Shenzhen, as one of the first national demonstration cities for prefabricated buildings, promotes the application of prefabricated houses in high-rise residential and public buildings through measures such as land transfer conditions and floor area ratio incentives. Guangzhou leverages the policy advantages of the Nansha Free Trade Zone to promote the standardized production of prefabricated components.

II. International Market Expansion
Huanggang, Hubei, as a production base for prefabricated houses in the central region, has exported its products in bulk to European countries such as Spain and Italy. This indicates that China's prefabricated house technical standards are gradually aligning with international standards, meeting overseas market demands through advantages such as modular design and the application of green building materials. The exported products are mainly standardized residential modules, suitable for rapidly constructed temporary housing or vacation villa projects.

III. Application Characteristics
The application of prefabricated houses in China exhibits characteristics of 'policy-driven + market-led': economically developed regions reduce enterprise costs through policies such as floor area ratio incentives and tax breaks; central and western regions rely on industrial transfer to build prefabricated component production bases, forming regional supply chains. At the technical level, the application of BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology and intelligent construction equipment has improved the design accuracy and construction efficiency of prefabricated houses.
