Where Are Container Houses Used

Admin September 16, 2026

Container houses can be used in various fields such as large-scale event accommodations, construction projects, urban public services, and commercial operations.

In large-scale events, container houses can serve as temporary accommodations for athletes and officials from participating delegations. For example, during the Nagoya Asian Games, to reduce costs, no large-scale athletes' village was built. Instead, personnel were dispersed and accommodated in cruise ships, container houses, and hotels. Approximately 200 container-style accommodations were neatly arranged in the Nagoya port area, expected to house around 2,000 athletes and team officials.

The construction industry is a common application scenario for container houses. They can be used as workers' dormitories, providing living spaces for workers, or as project office spaces, meeting the temporary office needs of construction teams and project managers. They are easy to set up, cost-effective, and some products have good wind and earthquake resistance. For instance, the packing boxes from Suzhou Zhongnan Steel Structure Co., Ltd. have been tested to withstand wind speeds of up to 12 on the Beaufort scale and seismic activity of magnitude 8, with a frame deformation rate of only 0.18%, well below the industry's acceptable threshold of 0.3%, making them suitable for construction scenarios.

In terms of urban public services, container houses can be used as emergency shelters, providing temporary refuge for disaster victims during emergencies, or as mobile police stations, facilitating police operations and maintaining public order.

In the commercial sector, container houses can be transformed into unique bed-and-breakfasts, offering tourists a distinctive lodging experience, or used as mobile shops for selling and displaying goods. Additionally, they can serve as pop-up stores in commercial settings, with their flexible space adjustment capabilities meeting the needs for rapid setup and flexible changes in pop-up store operations.

Furthermore, some specialized functional containers, equipped with insulation layers, fireproof materials, and other special structures, are suitable for extreme climate conditions or special industry needs, such as plateau workstations and mobile laboratories.
