What Materials Are Used for Prefabricated House Panels

Admin September 18, 2026

Prefabricated house panels are cement components prefabricated in factories, typically made by mixing raw materials such as cement and gravel, with cold-drawn wires or steel strands serving as the key load-bearing materials.

Raw Materials and Manufacturing Process

Prefabricated house panels primarily use cement and gravel as raw materials, which are mixed to form basic concrete. During manufacturing, wooden boards are first used to create molds for shaping. Subsequently, reinforcing materials such as steel bars, cold-drawn wires, or steel strands are placed inside the molds, followed by pouring concrete and completing the curing process. This entire process is standardized in factories to ensure dimensional accuracy and structural stability of the components.

Key Load-Bearing Structure

Cold-drawn wires or steel strands are the core load-bearing materials in prefabricated house panels. Manufactured through high-strength metal stretching or twisting processes, they can withstand both tensile and compressive forces, forming a composite structure with concrete that significantly enhances the component's bending and shear resistance. This design allows the prefabricated panels to meet load-bearing requirements while reducing material usage and self-weight.

Structural Types and Optimization

Prefabricated house panels come in two types: solid and hollow:

  • Solid Panels: These have a uniform concrete structure inside and are suitable for scenarios with high load-bearing requirements, such as multi-story building floors or heavy equipment foundations.
  • Hollow Panels: These reduce non-load-bearing concrete by incorporating regular holes inside, achieving a lightweight design. While maintaining load-bearing performance, the hollow structure lowers material costs and transportation difficulties, often used for residential partition walls or low-rise building floors.

Molds and Forming Technology

The forming of prefabricated panels relies on the precision control of molds. Factories use standardized molds to ensure consistent component dimensions, while vibration tables and other equipment eliminate air bubbles inside the concrete, improving density. The curing process requires strict control of temperature and humidity to prevent cracking or insufficient strength, ultimately forming prefabricated components that meet design requirements.

Application Scenarios and Advantages

Prefabricated house panels are widely used in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings due to their advantages of standardized production, rapid installation, and reliable structure. Their factory-based production model reduces on-site construction time and dependence on labor and the environment, while optimizing material ratios and structural designs to achieve a balance between economy and safety.
