What is a Prefabricated Assembled House

Admin September 19, 2026

A prefabricated assembled house, also known as a pre-cast house, refers to a building form where building components are industrially produced and assembled on-site.

Industrial Production and On-site Assembly

The core of a prefabricated assembled house lies in 'prefabrication' and 'assembly'. Its building components, such as walls and beams, are all produced in advance in factories through standardized and mechanized methods. These components undergo strict quality control in the factory, ensuring high dimensional accuracy and stable quality. After production, the components are transported to the construction site and quickly assembled using reliable connection methods, such as bolt connections and welding, much like building with blocks. In some cases, even entire houses can be completely manufactured in the workshop and then transported to the site by flatbed trucks. After connecting the water and electricity, they can be occupied, greatly shortening the construction cycle.

Significant Advantages

  • Time and Process Savings: It eliminates the need for on-site concrete mixing and waiting for cement to set, significantly accelerating the construction progress. In traditional construction methods, concrete pouring requires a long curing period to reach the design strength, whereas prefabricated assembled houses avoid this lengthy waiting process.
  • Reduced Material Waste: Industrial production enables precise calculation of material quantities, avoiding material losses caused by cutting and improper operations during on-site construction. This improves material utilization and reduces construction costs.
  • Mobility and Reusability: Prefabricated assembled houses have the advantage of being able to be relocated as a whole. If relocation is necessary, the house can be disassembled, transported to a new location, and reassembled for normal use, achieving the recycling of building resources.

Mainstream Types

Currently, the mainstream types of prefabricated assembled houses mainly include light steel structure, PC components, and prefabricated concrete houses. Light steel structure houses use light steel keels as the main load-bearing structure, featuring light weight, high strength, and good earthquake resistance. PC components, or prefabricated concrete components, combine the strength of concrete with the advantages of industrial production. Prefabricated concrete houses, on the other hand, use concrete as the main material and are constructed through factory prefabrication and on-site assembly, offering advantages such as durability and lower cost.
