What Glass to Use for Container Houses

Admin September 16, 2026

Container houses commonly use double-glazed insulating glass, and some may use Low-E tempered glass, triple-glazed tempered glass, etc.. Details are as follows:

  • Double-glazed insulating glass: This is a relatively common choice. For example, Zhonghao Glass Curtain Box-type Houses use double-glazed insulating glass with a 5 + 12A + 5 combination (the air layer of 12A can be adjusted according to the manufacturer's production process, and it should be no less than 12). Only the outer glass sheet is coated. This type of glass can control light, regulate heat, save energy, improve the building environment, and enhance aesthetics. The air layer in double-glazed insulating glass acts as a poor conductor of heat, effectively reducing heat transfer, providing thermal insulation, and also reducing noise to create a relatively quiet and comfortable interior environment for container houses.
  • Low-E tempered glass: Shanghai Boyao Glass Technology Co., Ltd. offers customized double-glazed Low-E tempered glass for thermal and sound insulation curtain wall glass. Low-E glass, also known as low-emissivity glass, is a film-coated product with multiple layers of metals or other compounds on the glass surface. It has a high transmittance for visible light and a high reflectance for infrared rays, offering good thermal insulation and optical properties. While ensuring indoor lighting, it can effectively block the entry of outdoor heat and the loss of indoor heat, and also reduce the damage caused by ultraviolet rays to indoor items.
  • Triple-glazed tempered glass: For some building products with high energy consumption requirements, triple-glazed tempered glass with a higher cost is used on the walls. Triple-glazed glass has one more air layer than double-glazed glass, further enhancing thermal and sound insulation effects, and better meeting the usage needs of container houses with high requirements for the indoor environment.
