What Disinfectant to Use for Mobile Toilets
Admin October 02, 2026
The disinfection methods for mobile toilets mainly include physical disinfection and chemical disinfection, as detailed below:

Physical Disinfection
- High-temperature Disinfection: Utilize high-temperature steam generated by a steam generator to spray and disinfect surfaces such as the toilet bowl and sink in mobile toilets. High-temperature steam effectively kills bacteria and viruses, ensuring hygiene and safety. Additionally, for fecal treatment, high-temperature steam can be used, ensuring the temperature reaches above 80℃ and is maintained for over 30 minutes to thoroughly eliminate pathogens.
- Ultraviolet Disinfection: Install ultraviolet disinfection lamps inside mobile toilets and turn them on during periods of non-use. Ultraviolet light disrupts the DNA structure of microorganisms, achieving disinfection. Simultaneously, ultraviolet disinfection equipment can be used to irradiate treated feces and equipment surfaces for at least 30 minutes to ensure disinfection effectiveness.
Chemical Disinfection
- Chlorine-based Disinfectants: Dilute chlorine-based disinfectants (such as 84 disinfectant) to a certain ratio and use a sprayer to thoroughly spray the floor, walls, and toilet bowl of the toilet. Alternatively, dilute bleach at a ratio of 1:100 to 1:200 and spray it, allowing it to act for 30 minutes to 1 hour; or use sodium hypochlorite with an effective chlorine content of 500-1000 mg/l, maintaining it for 30 minutes after spraying to kill bacteria and viruses.
- Peracetic Acid: Peracetic acid has strong oxidizing properties. When using it, dilute it to an appropriate concentration for wiping or spraying disinfection. A 0.5% - 1% concentration solution can also be used for spraying, but safety precautions must be taken. After application, rinse with water to avoid irritation to users from residues.
- Alcohol Disinfection: For frequently touched parts in mobile toilets, such as door handles and faucets, use 75% alcohol for wiping disinfection. Alcohol rapidly kills bacteria and evaporates quickly, leaving no residue.
- Chlorine Dioxide: Use 5-10 mg of chlorine dioxide per cubic meter of water, dissolve it, and spray it for 30 minutes to effectively kill bacteria and viruses in the air and improve the air quality inside the toilet.
In addition, professional cleaning teams also use slightly acidic electrolyzed water or hypochlorous acid disinfectants for雾化 (atomized) disinfection of toilet stalls during the cleaning of mobile toilets, further enhancing disinfection effectiveness.
