What Are the Types of Prefabricated House Components

Admin September 18, 2026

Prefabricated house components mainly include various types classified by material, function, and main components, as detailed below:

Classified by material, prefabricated house components can be divided into concrete prefabricated components, steel structural components, aerated concrete components, and rock wool board components. Concrete prefabricated components are made from materials such as cement and sand, offering high strength and long service life. Common examples include solid shear walls and composite floor slabs, widely used in various building structures. Steel structural components are made of steel, characterized by their lightweight and high strength, suitable for high-rise and large-span buildings such as large factories and sports venues. Aerated concrete components feature an internal bubble buffer structure, providing excellent thermal insulation and some earthquake resistance, commonly used in buildings with high insulation requirements. Rock wool board components use rock wool as the core material, covered with metal or non-metal sheets, offering thermal insulation, sound insulation, and fire resistance, suitable for building parts with strict fire safety requirements.

Classified by function, prefabricated house components can be divided into horizontal components, vertical components, and special-shaped components. Horizontal components, such as hollow floor slabs and double-T slabs, are mainly used to bear horizontal loads, eliminating the need for on-site formwork during construction and improving construction efficiency. Vertical components, including load-bearing walls and columns, come in various forms such as solid, hollow, or with insulation layers, serving as key components in bearing vertical loads in building structures. Special-shaped components, such as integrated bathrooms and bay windows, are typically formed in one piece in the factory, requiring no secondary processing during on-site installation, saving time and effort while ensuring construction quality.

Classified by main components, prefabricated house components can be divided into structural load-bearing components, floor slabs and stairs, exterior wall panels, and municipal components. Structural load-bearing components are equivalent to the skeleton of a house, such as beams, columns, and shear walls, forming the core part of the building structure and directly determining the stability and safety of the building. Floor slabs and stairs, such as composite floor slabs and prefabricated stairs, are important components connecting different floors in a building, with prefabricated production improving construction accuracy and efficiency. Exterior wall panels, such as sandwich wall panels and decorative panels, not only serve as enclosure functions but also offer additional properties such as thermal insulation and decoration, forming an important part of the modern building facade. Municipal components, such as underground pipes and cable trenches, although not directly part of the building structure, are important components of urban infrastructure, with prefabricated production improving construction speed and quality.
