Wall Thickness of Container House
Admin September 15, 2026
The wall thickness of container houses typically ranges from 50mm to 100mm, depending on the material type and design requirements.

I. Common Wall Materials and Thicknesses
- Packaged Container Houses: The walls are made of 75mm-thick color-steel glass wool sandwich panels, with both the inner and outer layers of color-steel plates being 0.45mm thick. This type of structure uses galvanized steel frames and is assembled modularly, suitable for construction site dormitories, temporary offices, and other scenarios.
- Modular Container Houses: The thickness of prefabricated walls varies more widely, ranging from 50mm to 100mm. For example, some products use EPS or rock wool as sandwich layers in a sandwich panel structure, allowing customers to choose the thickness based on their insulation and soundproofing needs.
- Customized Container Buildings: If assembled wall structures are used, the thickness may increase further. For example, the combination of an exterior decorative layer (such as metal carved panels or cement siding) with an interior insulation layer may result in a total thickness exceeding 100mm.
II. Factors Affecting Wall Thickness
- Functional Requirements:
- For residential or office scenarios, both insulation and soundproofing need to be considered, typically requiring sandwich panels thicker than 75mm.
- Temporary exhibitions or commercial events may use thinner walls (50mm) to reduce costs.
- Material Types:
- Sandwich materials like polyurethane and rock wool have high densities, allowing them to meet performance requirements with relatively small thicknesses.
- EPS foam boards require thicker layers to achieve the same level of insulation.
- Structural Forms:
- Welded container houses have fixed wall thicknesses, while assembled walls can be adjusted flexibly by adding or removing sandwich layers.
III. Wall Thickness Cases in Special Scenarios
- Cold Regions: Some projects use 100mm-thick rock wool sandwich panels, combined with thermal-break aluminum alloy doors and windows, to achieve high energy efficiency.
- High-End Homestays: Walls may consist of multiple layers (such as an outer layer of galvanized aluminum-zinc plates, a middle air layer, and an inner layer of bamboo-wood fiber boards), with a total thickness exceeding 120mm to enhance soundproofing and decorative effects.
IV. Selection Recommendations
- Prioritize referring to the standard specifications provided by suppliers (such as 75mm sandwich panels) to balance cost and performance.
- For long-term use or special environmental adaptability, request material test reports from manufacturers to confirm fire resistance, moisture resistance, and other indicators.
- During customized design, clarify the impact of wall thickness on transportation and hoisting (excessively thick walls may increase construction difficulty).
