Types of Portable Toilets

Admin October 05, 2026

Portable toilets can be mainly classified into the following categories:

Based on mobility, portable toilets can be divided into hoisting and handling portable toilets and powered and towed portable toilets. Hoisting and handling portable toilets are usually small in size and compact in structure. They can be hoisted and moved as a whole using equipment such as cranes or manually carried to designated locations, making them suitable for temporary, small-scale event venues or construction sites. Powered and towed portable toilets have autonomous mobility capabilities or can be moved by towing with vehicles. They are usually equipped with power systems internally or can be connected to towing vehicles, facilitating rapid transfer between different locations. They are commonly used in large-scale events, tourist attractions, and other venues that require frequent relocation.

Based on sewage treatment methods, the types of portable toilets are even more diverse, including flush and non-flush suction portable toilets, recirculating flush portable toilets, dry-packing portable toilets, waterless-packing portable toilets, traditional flush portable toilets, foam-sealing portable toilets, microbial degradation portable toilets, and high-pressure air-water flush portable toilets. Flush and non-flush suction portable toilets handle feces through flushing or suction, suitable for venues with water sources or regular cleaning. Recirculating flush portable toilets treat sewage through internal circulation systems, enabling the reuse of water resources. Dry-packing and waterless-packing portable toilets use special materials to pack feces without water, making them suitable for water-scarce areas or regions with high environmental protection requirements. Traditional flush portable toilets are similar to ordinary toilets but are portable. Foam-sealing portable toilets use foam to seal odors and reduce water consumption. Microbial degradation portable toilets decompose feces through microorganisms, achieving harmless treatment. High-pressure air-water flush portable toilets combine high-pressure air and water flow to improve flushing effectiveness.

Based on materials, portable toilets can be divided into plastic toilets, color-steel toilets, fiberglass toilets, tent-style toilets, and metal-carved-panel toilets, among others. These materials each have their own characteristics. For example, plastic toilets are lightweight and portable, color-steel toilets are sturdy and durable, fiberglass toilets are corrosion-resistant, tent-style toilets are flexible and versatile, and metal-carved-panel toilets are aesthetically pleasing.

Based on usage scenarios and functional characteristics, portable toilets can also be classified as solar-powered portable toilets, mobile towed eco-friendly public toilets, prefabricated integrated eco-friendly public toilets, and simple eco-friendly public toilets, among others. These toilets are designed according to specific needs. For example, solar-powered portable toilets use solar energy for power supply, promoting environmental protection and energy conservation. Mobile towed eco-friendly public toilets can be towed and moved, offering convenience and flexibility. Prefabricated integrated eco-friendly public toilets adopt modular design, facilitating rapid assembly and disassembly. Simple eco-friendly public toilets focus on practicality and cost-effectiveness.
