Selection of Prefabricated Panels for Turbine Factory Building Roof
The selection of prefabricated panels for the roof of a turbine factory building requires a comprehensive consideration of span, load, construction conditions, and fire protection requirements. The scheme should be determined based on the selection of roof trusses and connection specifications, and then adapted to specific scenarios according to material properties.

1. Roof Truss Selection and Span Matching as Fundamental Prerequisites
The type of roof truss in a turbine factory building directly affects the range of options for prefabricated panels. According to specifications:
- Span ≤ 18m: Reinforced concrete roof trusses can be used, and the prefabricated panels must meet the welding requirements with the upper chords of the roof trusses. For example, when the roof truss spacing is ≤ 6m, each roof panel must be welded to the upper chords of the roof trusses with three welds, each with a length ≥ 60mm and a thickness ≥ 6mm; if the roof truss spacing is > 6m, the weld length must be increased to ≥ 80mm, with a thickness still ≥ 6mm.
- Span ≥ 21m and < 36m: Prestressed concrete roof trusses or steel roof trusses are recommended. In this case, prefabricated panels that match the span should be prioritized, such as prestressed double-T panels (span 12-30 meters) or steel-framed lightweight roof panels (span 6-15 meters), to avoid structural safety hazards caused by mismatched spans.
- Span ≥ 36m: Steel roof trusses must be used, and high-strength prefabricated panels should be selected based on load calculations, such as expanded stone panels (steel-framed expanded stone lightweight panels) or prestressed double-T panels, ensuring that the welding connection strength complies with specifications.
2. Material Properties Must Match Usage Scenarios
The characteristics of different prefabricated panels determine their applicability:
- Expanded Stone Panels: Suitable for scenarios requiring lightweight and high-strength materials. Their low self-weight reduces the load on the main structure, and they offer stable fire resistance, thermal insulation, and sound insulation properties. Additionally, they are prefabricated in factories and assembled on-site, improving construction efficiency. However, it should be noted that their specifications must be confirmed based on project span, load, and other conditions, and they are not suitable for all scenarios.
- Prestressed Double-T Panels: With a span of 12-30 meters, they are suitable for large-span factory buildings but require hoisting for installation, imposing higher demands on construction equipment.
- Steel-Framed Lightweight Roof Panels: With a span of 6-15 meters, they are easy to install and suitable for projects with medium spans and high demands for construction speed.
- Concrete Hollow Prefabricated Panels: With a span of 3-6 meters, they are cost-effective but only suitable for scenarios with small spans and low load requirements.
3. Fire Protection and Construction Conditions Must Be Key Considerations
If the factory building has fire protection requirements, materials with stable fire resistance properties should be prioritized, such as expanded stone panels or fire-coated prefabricated panels配套的 (matching) prestressed concrete roof trusses. Meanwhile, construction conditions (such as hoisting capacity and on-site assembly space) will also affect the selection. For example, in large-span projects with limited hoisting equipment, steel-framed lightweight roof panels can be prioritized to reduce construction difficulty.
