Introduction to Travel Mobile Toilets
Travel mobile toilets are facilities that can be moved as a whole and placed in fixed or temporary locations to provide public toilet services. They are mainly distributed in tourist areas such as scenic spots, transportation routes, and distribution centers.

Structure and Materials
Travel mobile toilets come in a variety of overall structures. A common type is the galvanized steel frame structure, covered with waterproof asphalt shingles. This structure facilitates easy lifting and movement as a whole, allowing for immediate relocation as needed, offering high flexibility. There are also models that occupy an area of 30 square meters, featuring a double-roof design. The wall panels are made of metal carved panels with color-matching treatments, which not only look aesthetically pleasing but also provide thermal insulation, adapting to different environmental needs.
Internal Facilities
The interiors are usually well-equipped, with squat toilets to meet basic toilet needs, hand basins for users to clean their hands, exhaust fans to ensure proper air circulation inside, and ceiling lights to provide sufficient illumination. Some travel mobile toilets also use stainless steel door locks, which are durable and safe, enhancing the user experience.
Function and Design
In addition to basic sanitation functions, travel mobile toilets emphasize the harmony between architectural design and the landscape of scenic spots. Common forms include log cabin-style and antique-style, blending in with the surrounding environment and becoming a unique scenic feature of the area. At the same time, they adopt environmentally friendly technologies such as waterless flushing and microbial degradation to achieve ecological friendliness, reduce environmental pollution, and align with the concept of sustainable development.
Development History
In 2015, China launched the "Toilet Revolution," with the National Tourism Administration proposing the construction or renovation of 57,000 tourist toilets from 2015 to 2017. In 2018, a new three-year plan was initiated with a target of adding 64,000 more toilets. By the end of 2019, a total of 52,600 tourist toilets had been built nationwide from 2018 to 2019, completing 89% of the new three-year plan's target. In 2022, the new national standard "Quality Requirements and Evaluation of Tourist Toilets" (GB/T 18973-2022) was released and implemented, classifying tourist toilets into two categories, Class I and Class II, emphasizing basic functions and encouraging an increase in the proportion of female toilet stalls. In 2024, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism selected 74 national excellent cases, covering areas such as standardized construction, smart management (e.g., electronic navigation, odor monitoring systems), and cultural theme innovations (e.g., ocean-themed decorations, Han-style carvings).
