Toilet Sliding Door Renovation
Admin September 20, 2026
The renovation of the toilet sliding door should be carried out in a standardized manner according to the steps, with attention paid to material selection and position optimization. Details are as follows:

I. Material Selection and Tool Preparation
- Material Selection: Prioritize waterproof and easy-to-clean materials, such as glass (with good light transmission and moisture resistance), stainless steel (with strong corrosion resistance), and aluminum alloy (lightweight and durable). The recommended thickness of the door panel is 8-12 millimeters, and the color and style should be coordinated with the overall style of the bathroom.
- Tool Preparation: Electric screwdriver (for disassembling the old door), level (for aligning the door frame), nail gun (for fixing the door frame), neutral detergent (for maintenance), and lubricating oil (for track maintenance).
II. Removal of the Old Door and Safety Precautions
- Removal Steps: First, use an electric screwdriver to remove the connecting screws between the door panel and the door frame, preserving the integrity of the door frame for subsequent wall treatment. If the door frame is tightly adhered to the wall, use a manual screwdriver to pry along the gaps to avoid violent removal that may cause wall cracking.
- Safety Points: Wear safety goggles and gloves during operation to prevent debris from flying. If the door is heavy, two people should collaborate to carry it to avoid injury.
III. New Door Installation Process
- Door Frame Installation:
- Mark positioning lines around the door opening to ensure the door frame is perpendicular to the wall.
- Use a nail gun to drill holes at the marked positions. The hole depth should exceed two-thirds of the nail length. Embed the door frame and use a level to correct its horizontal and vertical alignment.
- Wheel Box Fixation:
- Install the upper wheel box in the middle of the top of the door frame and the lower wheel boxes on both sides of the bottom of the door frame. Ensure that the top of the wheels is slightly higher than the edge of the door panel by 1-2 millimeters to ensure smooth sliding.
- Place the door panel on the wheel boxes and gently push to test for any jamming. If there is resistance, adjust the position of the wheel boxes.
- Opening Angle Adjustment: Rotate the adjustment screws on the wheel boxes and move the baffles to control the maximum opening angle of the door panel (usually 90°-120°) to avoid collision with the wall or other furniture.
- Accessory Installation: Select door handles and locks of appropriate lengths according to the thickness of the door panel. Drill holes at the marked positions and fix them with a screwdriver to ensure smooth opening and closing.
IV. Position Optimization and Visual Improvement
If the door directly faces sensitive areas such as sofas, the following solutions can be adopted:
- Move the Door Position: If the layout allows, shift the door opening by about 1 meter to change the visual focus of the living room.
- Blocking Design:
- Build a Half-Wall: Build a half-wall 30-50 centimeters high between the living room and the bathroom to hide the door opening and increase storage space.
- Extend the TV Background Wall: Customize a full-wall TV cabinet and extend its length to the bathroom entrance, designing it as a hidden door to maintain the integrity of the wall.
- Use Partitions: Install frosted glass partitions (with light transmission but no shadow) or green plant partitions (to add vitality), or use a combination of a sideboard and a screen to divide the space while maintaining transparency.
- Indent the Door Opening or Hang a Curtain: If space is limited, indent the door opening into the bathroom by 10-15 centimeters or hang a fabric curtain in the dry area to alleviate visual impact.
V. Daily Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the door panel and track with a soft cloth dampened with a neutral detergent every week. Avoid using acidic or alkaline detergents that may corrode the materials.
- Lubrication: Apply a small amount of lubricating oil to the track and wheel box bearings every month to keep the door panel sliding smoothly and reduce noise.
- Inspection: Regularly check if the screws are loose and if the wheel boxes are worn. If any abnormalities are found, tighten or replace the accessories in a timely manner.
