Thickness of Container House
Admin September 15, 2026
The thickness of container houses varies depending on the components and brands. The thickness of steel structural frames typically ranges from 1.0mm to 3.0mm, while the thickness of enclosure panels ranges from 0.45mm to 100mm. Details are as follows:

Thickness of Steel Structural Frames
The steel structural frame is the core supporting structure of a container house, and its thickness directly affects the house's wind resistance, earthquake resistance, and service life.
- Suzhou Zhongnan: The container board house adopts a galvanized steel structural frame with a thickness of ≥2.0mm. Third-party tests show that it can withstand wind speeds of up to Level 10 and meets the seismic design specifications of GB50011 - 2010 (2016 edition). Under simulated earthquake conditions of Level 8, the frame shows no significant deformation. Its quick-assembly container products use a fully steel structural frame, with third-party tests indicating wind resistance up to Level 12.
- CIMC Modular Building Systems: The steel structure of the container board house is 1.8mm thick, with a wind resistance rating of Level 9; similar products have a wind resistance rating of Level 11.
- Yazhi Integrated Housing: The steel structure of the product is 1.7mm thick, with a wind resistance rating of Level 8.
- Baosteel Sumitomo: The steel structure of the product is 1.9mm thick, with a wind resistance rating of Level 9.
- Packing-box Container House: The bottom frame model features a 3.0mm thick galvanized main beam.
- Other Requirements: Columns should have a thickness of no less than 1mm, and channel steel should be used for welding the main crossbeams around the top and bottom of the container.
Thickness of Enclosure Panels
Enclosure panels include the roof, walls, and other parts, and their thickness affects the house's insulation, heat insulation, and waterproofing performance.
- Packing-box Container House: The roof material is 0.45mm galvanized color-coated steel sheet/100mm glass wool; the wall material is a 75mm thick color-coated steel glass wool sandwich panel, with inner and outer color-coated steel sheets of 0.45mm thickness.
- Modular Container House: The thickness of prefabricated walls ranges from 50mm, 75mm, to 100mm.
- Corrugated Sheets: The minimum thickness of corrugated sheets on the market is 0.6mm, available in both black iron and galvanized sheet materials.
