Thermal Insulation Performance of Container Houses
Admin September 15, 2026
The thermal insulation performance of container houses is influenced by multiple factors such as materials, construction techniques, and structural airtightness. Through reasonable material selection and design, good thermal insulation effects can be achieved.

Core Evaluation Dimensions
- Properties of Enclosure Structure Materials: Mainstream products adopt steel structural frameworks and composite sandwich panel enclosure systems. The density and thickness of the sandwich panels determine the thermal insulation effect; the lower the thermal conductivity coefficient, the stronger the thermal insulation capacity. For example, a polyurethane foam layer of over 50mm in the middle can effectively block heat conduction. The national 'Technical Standard for Steel Structure Integrated Houses' requires that the heat transfer coefficient of the walls of residential container houses be ≤0.45W/(㎡·K), which is 1.8 times the thermal insulation efficiency of traditional brick-and-concrete walls.
- Jointing Techniques: If there are gaps at the joints of the panels, a cold bridge effect can easily occur, significantly reducing the overall thermal insulation performance. Excellent sealing techniques can minimize the impact of gaps and ensure that heat is not easily lost.
- Overall Structural Airtightness: The fit between doors, windows, and frames, as well as the sealing treatment at corners, all affect the thermal insulation effect. For example, using double- or triple-glazed windows and installing sealing strips at the edges of windows and doors can effectively reduce heat leakage.
Methods to Improve Thermal Insulation Performance
- Select Appropriate Thermal Insulation Materials: Such as polystyrene boards, polyurethane foam boards, and rock wool boards, which have low thermal conductivity coefficients and good heat insulation properties.
- Add Thermal Insulation Layers: Add thermal insulation layers on the exterior wall surfaces or internal walls, such as external hanging insulation layers and internal thermal insulation boards, to form effective heat insulation barriers.
- Optimize Design: Using sandwich panels with aluminum foil reflective layers, equipped with adjustable sunshade canopies and bottom ventilation slots, can further enhance the thermal insulation effect.
Practical Application Effects
Actual measurements show that in summer, the temperature inside the container rises 22 minutes slower than the outdoor temperature at noon. In winter, after being sealed for 8 hours, the indoor temperature only drops by 1.3℃, providing a more stable and comfortable feeling without being stuffy, dry, or experiencing sudden temperature changes.
